I honestly was jealous of defi and all the money that was being made this last cycle so I broke down, bought some eth, stuck it in maker to mint some dai, and then stuck that dai in yearn finance to earn yield. No joke, the very next day the yearn vault I was in was hacked and I thought I lost everything. Luckily that time the gov token was debased to make everyone whole, but from that point forward I was no longer jealous. I paid back my maker debt, sold my eth and went back to cold storage BTC.
Lots can be made in defi but the risk profile is completely different. Anyone calling BTC a pet rock and not acknowledging those defi risks is just a salesman shilling their bags at the expense of others. It's just a different type of asset altogether with a different purpose.
