We're getting close. I can't believe they were able to slap it down this low for this long. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they try to keep it down this low again and I hope they do. I wouldn't mind another year of stacking silver before it starts moving higher. Think of the misery of silver being $50 an ounce and your wages not moving higher so your ability to stack is diminished to next to nothing relative to what it is now. Sure, it will be nice to see all of the mining stocks surging but I am not looking forward to that day when I have to reassess my investing strategy at those kinds of prices.

I don't think people realize just how miserable this is going to be for everyone. Just as much as our investments will increase in value, we will still be systemically poorer as a globe/nation. So even if we personally profit, we will still have friends and family and our communities being decimated with unemployment, collapsing real estate values, stock collapse in real terms, welfare benefits drying up, higher crime, drugs and prostitution to make ends meet, vacancies, graffiti. Having read several boomer tier investing books I can tell you with absolute certainty that normalizing interest rates and investing with REAL MONEY on the line is nowhere near as simple and easy as it is now. People unironically think that "big line go up" and they can then just ride the elevator to prosperity completley clueless as to just how much in terms of energy, resources and manpower is involved in making all of this happen. Losing the dollar reserve status is a very scary prospect knowing full well that there are several BILLION people on the world that are desperate to buy up the worlds energy and consume their own production and appliances. Relatively we will be on the decline with our leaders doing more gayops and wars because the paper finance game can't procure the resources that they promised their people who are rapidly opening their eyes as to who/what is running the country and impoverishing us this entire time.

It's not going to happen in the near future? So long as the state can keep bringing in goods and energy the banks can manage the paper ponzi. It really all depends on the globe playing ball with the United States while they maneuver themselves away from the dollar.

It doesn't need to be anonymous to be useful, you also don't need to hold it for it to be useful
It's just another way to do accounting when you are doing business across long distance

silver/gold coins are always preferable when doing business locally

My deenz are all stamped 2025-27, and I easily go through a couple tins a week, so I'd cycle through them regardless of all this.

I used to be able to ask my bank for rolls of coins from their coin counting machine. They would happily give me boxes of nickels and dimes and quarters. I would spend hours looking for buffalos, and say that per box of dimes and per 3 boxes of quarters I would find one silver dime/quarter. Now Brinks comes and empties the machine and hauls everything off.

I actually had the idea to buy my own Coinstar type machine and ask the city for funding and do rounds at the homeless encampments with the machine mounted in a minivan along with an ATM
>for safety / liberal hippie muh feels purposes
That way I would have access to lots of change that was picked thru and make some $ on ATM fees (1$ per transaction)

they do several things that make tellers (hispanic females) look down on other people wanting rolls. achmed comes in there to buy $1000 worth of coins, clearing them out, then brings them back the next day to the same bank. they just spent 30 minutes, with customers waiting, helping this hand-ass-wiping faggot only to get them back the next day. lame shit like that, then they get stingy.

Speaking of which, scrapanon, i need your help!
How do you value silverware with concrete-filled handles? Is there a rule of thumb you use like a third of the weight or do you go by your feeling?

For example, let say pic related is weighting 150g, and the handle + tip is in silver (or inversely), how much do you expect the filling to weight?

Same question with silverware in two parts, if the handle is in silver but the tip is in stainless steel, how do you estimate what % of the total weight is in silver?

Also, i wanna thank you a lot for motivating me to do this scrapfren. This is quite time consuming (especially for a newbie like me, and because french silverware literally have a bazillion of differents hallmarks, and most plated stuff have very similar hallmarks so it's really hard to tell on pics) but this is a lot of fun, and i already managed to score few items at 14€/oz, which to me is insane considering no coins/bars go below 29€ at this point. Luv you bro.

Indeed, very boomer story.
But if anything, it's pretty bearish-gold.
Do you know how much workforce was involved just carding, combing, spinning and weaving the wool, then sewing a man's toga? It was probably at least 3 weeks for several women doing it. At least, the tailoring was very limited since all togas were simple rectangular shaped pieces.

Now it's the complete opposite. Machines can produce your semi-high end suit (because no, $1800 certainly wont buy you top quality suits) for few bux, but tailoring will be a good chunk of the final cost.
You could argue the machines to dig up gold are also more efficient. But gold is always rarer and harder to get, while wool or whatever synthetic shit is basically limitless.

If anything, it's an argument to invest on suits kek.

That's a kinda bullshit argument, considering you always had infinite range of prices for suits. It's easy to cherry pick a 1oz-worth suit at pretty much any period of history. But it also would be true for 3oz.

What should have been compared with is entry-level suits. You can get those for what, $80-100 at target? Lets add 35 for both the tie and shirt. That's $130 for a complete suit. Pretty sure clothes never have been this cheap to produce, while gold production's capacities are stagnating, and oil is always more expensive.

On what? Buffalos higher than other retailers, 10oz higher than Ebay. Not seeing any deals here.

$255 for a 10'er on Egay tho, not bad.

Well I guess compared to bullion dealers online. The 10z bars are priced as if I was paying with crypto and buying 100+ from Apmex.

I've invested in physical copper, but not like this. I buy copper wire. It will be easier to barter or sell than a copper coin because it is useful.
