you hold your private keys
>it can be the 12/24 mnemonic seed words for example
>or a base58 encoded private key which is just a string
nobody can touch your BTC
you are the sole owner of the coins, and you are the only one authorized to spend them
and as long as you backup and memorize those words, you can bring the BTC always with you
cross borders with 10M dollars worth of BTC just stored in your mind
and then you just use a hardware wallet to sign transactions

if you leave your crypto on the exchange
>first of all, they might not be there
>second, even assuming they are there, someone else is holding the private keys, so they are the actual owners
>they can be frozen and seized
>they can be stolen by the exchange (e.g. like in the FTX case)

it can't be stolen if you do self custody properly
first of all pick a good hardware wallet where you can check hardware and software tampering
open source ones are great, like seedsigner it's based on a raspberry pi zero and you can assembly it by yourself
or you can just wipe a laptop (with no intel IME) and boot a kali live, offline, and use it as a hardware wallet to sign your tx
generate the private key in a secure environment (no cameras around)
NEVER, EVER, type the private key on any electronic device (except the hardware wallet)
NEVER, EVER, store it on your pc, or your email, or your dropbox, just NO
backup only using paper and pencil, metal plate, and then memorize those words
and they will never be stolen

while a cex is a centralized point of failure that allows ceo scammers, governments and hackers to steal it all from millions of people in one shot, so don't trust centralized exchanges ever
use kraken to buy spot and the withdraw your BTC immediately
self-custody is kind

NOT YOUR KEYS, NOT YOUR COINS

Reddit hate. Fat people. Bald people that have a shitty beard just not to feel hairless. Gay. LGBTQ+ obnoxious and over the top support. Doggerinos. Source requesters (that one’s not too bad). Parroting the same advice for upvotes, creating a hivemind. I honestly like to see these threads now and then, they remind me that even if I haven’t made it, I’m not a retarded blob of a person.
