The market didn't actually need to drop yet. It only dropped because after 2001 and 2008 the market has no faith that the Fed will raise rates to an appropriate amount without crashing the economy.
As the Fed rate and 10yr treasury yields come closer and closer, the Fed needs to stop the rate hikes or risk another crash in the coming months.
If the Fed stops hikes so their rate doesn't exceed the 10yr, then this entire bear market was for nothing and we will pump it all back.
If they keep hiking because muh inflation, then we won't bottom until they lower rates back to zero, which would be a long time from now.
