Anyone else saving money right now by keeping the heat off? It's 48F/7C in my house right now and just below freezing outside. I'm bundled up and using an emergency mylar blanket. I'll turn the heater on once it gets down to 40F/4C inside and keep it there to prevent pipes from bursting.

>> No.52285891

Yeah I would do that all the time. Wife not about that though so I try and sneak it lower here and there

I do this all the time and judging by how similar we all are, I’d bet most biztards do it as well.

>> No.52285925

7C indoors is quite low for 0C/-5C outside.
Is your house well insulated?
My house can even reach below 14C without heating in these kinds of temps.

It's been just below freezing last few days, the heat has been slowing bleeding off. Started out at a solid 60F/15C and has been going lower. I probably need to thermal proof my windows or something, I guess I'll look into it.

I will not turn on the heat this winter. Hot coffee, hoodies, and blankets.

> spend the next 4 months shivering

I will put the money saved from no heat into SPY, American Gold Eagles, and AAVE.

You end up stinking up your clothes, reducing its life, forcing you to spend money on clothes more. Energy is cheaper than clothes...

Yes, windows are a good start.
My house has these foam insulation panels on the outside and the inside, also thick brick walls (like 30cm), but I'm an europoor so YMMV.
Thermal wear might do the trick so you're comfy while being warm-ish.

I live in the EU and they paid most of the money for my 25cm of best insulating styrofoam.
When it's -5C outside there's 22C inside with no heating.

I recently increased the target temperature in my entire house so I can walk around in T-shirts.
I usually don't do that, but our government has a super gay "muh save energy!" propaganda plan going on and I want to stick it to them.

It’s a balmy 15C and I had the heating on full blast this morning, turning my large 4 bedroom house into a sauna. All because I’m a richfag and I can do what I want. Fuck Putin

This is how people lived till very recently. Central heating wasnt that common in the UK at least till like 1980s.
People just heated the room they were in. why the fuck do you need to heat every room anyway? additionally, fuel was cheap the past 10 years, so people just used more of it and got used to that.

I live in a commie block with central heating. I have no choice in the matter. System is set up to start pumping water to the radiators if it's below 12C outside, raping everyone with bills.

Nice. Personally, I'm just buying more JEPI for that monthly dividend.

>>52286069
That's what I figured. If my grandparents could do it, why can't we?

>>52286101
How so? I'm going to keep it from freezing indoors, just not going to waste money on extra heat. Hopefully some thermal insulation for my windows pays for itself.

I would. Strategy with covered call ETFs is just to buy now and hold through the bear market and reinvest the dividends to buy more. When the price climbs above my initial entry and it looks like the bear market is over, I'll pivot back to growth stocks. The recession followed by stagflation might last the rest of the decade like the 2000s, so it could potentially be a long hold.

You have pipes full of water inside the walls, closer to the outdoors than you are. These can freeze and burst even if your home is 50 degrees inside. Doesn't mean it's 50 degrees inside the exterior walls.
