I'm down 90% on my mining stocks, bought the top during the peak of inflation fears. Some of my holdings have declared bankruptcy.

Would you DCA and double down on mining stocks now? Many of them are at multi year lows and I think or I triple down I might make back my initial losses, what do you think?

>I don't really understand the rationale of plebbitors and their "raid," they are inflating prices, and thus limiting the amount the "little guy" is able to purchase, I assume the majority of stackers aren't waiting for the reddit raid to begin stacking, isn't the best strategy a slow and steady, yet constant, drain as opposed to a signaled and essentially artificial pump in price? wouldnt it be counteractive to loudly announce an attempt at creating a short squeeze like a declaration of war? The whole reason behind GME was the total unexpectedness of it, not allowing institutions to cover their shorts. An institution would be fully aware it's going to pump, right?

>> No.52239787

>>52239705
Iirc gme was being shilled quite a bit before the squeeze. Once it actually happened then it became a game of finding the next naked short.
Silver was targeted next by some and while they did not trigger a squeeze they did get a huge amount of noobies into PMs. I sort of fall into this category (not through reddit, through pmg).
Institutions absolutely know what's going on and I'm sure they will pull off every trick in the book to prolong and profit off of it. Just look at how much silver is actually in reserve compared to last year. The buying momentum is increasing and it will only get stronger with inflation fears.

I stopped posting on reddit many years ago, stopped going there several years back, but I still have some scripts that scrape top topics there, including one that used to track wallstreetbets, just for legal gambling purposes. GME blew up on some DD. There was a bit of a redpill moment, as you mention people were looking for the next short squeeze. Someone posted a big tryhard DD research post of all the bullshit behind silver. JPM's incredible fines, history, Hunt bros, etc. Ended with buy physical, avoid SLV, PSLV is a good alternative, miners are higher risk higher reward, etc. The same shit we've all seen for as long as I have been into silver. This hits the top of WSB, then gets fully 100% scrubbed. Less than an hour later, a near word-for-word version from a recently dormant account pops up to the top of WSB. Accumulates the same votes and more very quickly, straight to the top. Except it's shilling SLV, it's got a little of the juicier, tastier, fat, trimmed off the meat of the message in terms of the history and the details of the comex contracts. Then they split into two subreddits because WSB didn't want anymore of it. I suspect shilling all around, WSB reeing about silver to quell discussion. WSS is the new "based" silver subreddit and it's spammed with low quality bullshit 24 hours a day to keep it unusable.
reddit sucks.

I don't think it works, because the dealer supply lines will get fucked long before the coomex, and this will also drive the silver street prices up. So it means you can buy less (higher premiums) and it takes longer to get your stuff. So it has the opposite effect, it basically puts brakes on draining the coomex. If Britain did similar, they'd either use up the entire year's supply of British-mined Gold (I think there's some small gold deposits in Scotland and Cornwall in addition to Wales) if they wanted to make any more than just a handful of coins.

I looked up how the radius of earth was measured. I discovered the radius was never directly measured, but calculated based on an axiom presupposing the globe.
Every attempt to measure the radius references the sky, but also assumes the sky to be something that could only surround a sphere.
You can't use a measuring device you don't understand to measure something you don't understand and then claim understanding.

Your problem is your attachment to the "supposed market price". When you buy a bowl of rice at a restaurant, do you pay what commodity brokers pay at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange? No. You pay whatever the restaurant can get which is almost always much higher than bulk wholesale. It must be in order for them to make a profit. Same with gold and silver coins. There are costs associated with minting and distributing the coins of course, but the real issue is supply and demand.at the RETAIL level, not the commodity market level. Shop around for the best price available TO YOU and forget the spot price, unless you are a whale who can buy at commodity exchange volume.

But even here most of them I got for less (26-27 on average) because I was trying to scoop up all the interesting cheapies that were still in stock 1-2 months ago. More recently (a couple weeks ago) I bought a couple more collectible silver coins in the 32-33 range, and another one for like 27.

The problem with silver stackers is not that it’s a bad thing to buy or that you won’t get any roi. It’s that they’re looking for a moonshot from a rock that is designed to sit and store wealth. Yes you can search for and get successful decent moonshots from silver, but it’s in the numismatic realm. Similar value derivative to pokemon cards and any other fad. So it’s a passing game and chances come and go.
The main thing for precious metals is of course wealth storage. Stability. Discreetness. Compactness. Trust.
What checks all of those boxes? Gold. 24k or 22k bullion. Maybe jewelry but remember the first letters of that word when buying.
Even if I get a negative return on investment, I’d rather have gold in hand than not. Silver value is so dependent on the premiums which are somewhat difficult and time consuming to recover when selling.
Gold is universal, you can always rely on getting spot and hopefully you didn’t pay much more than that originally.
Buy gold. Stay safe and secure.

ive ended up with a stack of about 1:30
bought a kilo a month ago, 10oz last week, and a kilo this week
all signs point to a monetary system based on gold, and maybe silver if its a commodity based system like brics is throwing around. maybe silver is the diversion metal, roping in the reddit crowd with a totally legitimate grass roots not at all funded campaign. either way, ive got both bases covered.

central banks are hoarding and buying large amounts of gold. they are not buying silver, plebs are. they could flip a switch and back their currencies with gold overnight. they own no silver currently, and have not owned silver in decades. silver might be revalued as a more valuable commodity, but gold will always be money.

perhaps a more valuable commodity than currently thought, but still. if the commodity basket brics is talking about is created, it would be based in part of the commodities held and produced. you would want more of everything in that case. the rupee has also crossed 83/1 and they are trying to preserve their wealth in any way possible, converting it into precious metals.

Gold and silver go well together, that's why I have both. The gold is more stable and thus easier to liquidate at any time. The silver is more volatile but has more potential. And since they don't always dip at the same time, I just buy whatever is on sale.

Gold and silver are psychologically connected. Further, silver is a means of dividing the value of gold. When you become truly enlightened you will understand that there is no such thing as gold OR silver. they are one and the same.
They are real money.

It's a good site for those kind of bullion coins. They even give discounts if you order in 20/25 tube or 100 quantity.
Otherwise they have some collectible coins, but not as much as some of the other sites (no old kooks, etc.)

as long as platinum is under 1k, it is a good deal
it is likely platinum becomes twice the price of gold eventually
so if you get two ounces of platinum now, and then in a few years, you can get 4 ounces of gold with those 2 ounces, rather than 1 ounce of gold today

I am unfamiliar with that supplier. $190 for 10L of azeotropic nitric seems very cheap. I wouldn't personally usr it. YMMV. As chemistanon said, read/watch as much educational information as you can regarding the safe use of strong acids, nitric in particular. HNO3 is a fiercely strong oxidizer and can turn just about anything flammable. Do not trust gloves for more than a few interactions with this acid. If you notice any discoloration on the gloves whatsoever, discard them in a firesafe container. Invest in a quality respirator rated for fumes and not just particles. Upon contact with most metals that you'll be using in the course of refining, large quantities on Nitrogen Dioxide gas will be released. NO2 is lethal in any significant quantities. Only do work in a fume hood or outside. This is not a joke. Refining is dangerous and the byproducts can and will kill you if you do not respect them.

I don't think this actually slows down the squeeze since the bottleneck isn't with the dealers. People are still drip buying all the new stock. The high prices should actually speed the process up because everyone will want to sell at this much over spot. It's free money.

Anyone find any cheapies lately?

There was a NOS 14k accutron on my country's ebay with the huge 30g+ case for $800USD and i thought about it for weeks without getting it. Now I'm seeing similar ones online for $2800USD+

Pic related is my only scrappie from the last few months since I've been focusing on other things. It's a HEAVY 18k white gold concord.

It's got a 5g 18k buckle too. I paid $3300 and think it is right around spot price.

$3300 CAD I mean. That's 2450USD for an 18k watch with around 60g of 18k gold. Funnily enough it was up for like 6 months on facebook marketplace and nobody bought it. I only bought it because the back had a seethrough movement that I knew was legit.
