51690145 No.51690145 [Reply] [Original]

So this is likely going to allow people who have held for 4+ years to stake. Likely we'll out our ETH address in to a form and it'll tell us if we can stake or not.

For all my long term holders here, are you going to do v0.1 staking? I've held since Jan 2018 so I'm most certainly going to be eligible. I am debating not staking though to let others go first and make sure it's safe. I only have a 10k stack and if I staked it and some smart contract error caused me to lose 10k LINK I'd probably kill myself.

Thoughts?

Am I missing something? That literally says general access also opens in December. Seems like the "super cool" holder club will last only a few weeks.

Same reason that kept me off of bancor, Nexus, yield-farming stuff etc. But in this case I'd assume if there was an error, chainlink would cover it. Not to mention that your links would be (nearly) worthless anyway.

>Not to mention that your links would be (nearly) worthless anyway.
That's actually a good point. Any error that caused all the long term stakers to lose their stake would probably kill the project. By logic, there is no reason not to stake since if you stake and it goes well you're going to get some huge gains, and if you don't or do stake and it fucks up, LINK's price will plummet so hard your stack will be worth nothing anyway.

Guess I am doing early access staking then.

>> No.51690296

I bought all of my Links in 2018 through a Binance account. I then held them on Binance until Coinbase listed Link and sent them there. I moved them to cold storage earlier this year (maybe 3 months ago). Do you think I'll be able to stake? I have 33k tokens

No, I kept it on there until Coinbase listed Chainlink. Whenever that was like 2019. So I had them on Binance for a year at most. Then I kept them on coinbase for years.

Does it really make a difference if I'm trusting an exchange or trusting some hardware wallet? None of use really. understand how these wallets work or anything. When it comes down to it, we're trusting that one day our wallets won't just disappear or something one day.

Yes there are literally hundreds of pools that will be available to stake at. I get that you're trying to shill LP but LP isn't even a top 5 pool.

In that pic it says "You have opportunity to stake stake... if the pool has not filled.

So early access may open just a couple of weeks earlier than general access (both at december like the slide says) but the pool might be full at the time general access opens up, so they still have to wait in line.

Why not just stake 2,500 then? I mean it’s very likely that staking 2,500 will be huge. Like at $2,000 5 million staked… 3% of that is what? 150k/year? What if link hits 10k? Then that’s 1 milly a year without even touching the other 7,500 link you got.

While watching the presentation I was wondering who you'd stake your tokens with. If it's the company itself on their own nodes then, given track records of 100% no problems here or there, there shouldn't be a problem at all. Would be unfortunate to see some problem come up as soon as staking comes out from ChainLink themselves. If I qualify to be able to stake and it's with them themselves I believe I'll take that risk since I was planning on holding for another 8 years to begin with.
