All those things are reasons why link isn't valued at 0 desu. Link is around 20th in mcap despite having literally no use whatsoever. Talk is cheap, when staking actually arrives without a hitch and then when swift actually implement ccip into their backend and when trillions of dollars actually flow through the protocol, then link will pump, the market is sick of years of hopium.

Do you remember how we used to post the singularity meme, in the good old days? When our board was empty of all but the finest schizos, shitposter and /biz/realis that there where to be found. We had meme magic, back then, and we used it to frightening effect - in much the same way that /pol/ used their meme magic to get Trump elected, we used ours to meme Chainlink into the standard. We did a good job. Too good.
It's happening. Tonight? Maybe, maybe not. It's happening, but you won't be able to enjoy it. It'll have happened before you realise what's even happening. From some paltry price in low 10's to over 1000 dollars all in one incredible, singular candle. This is why Chainlink is such a torture. It doesn't take faith, for faith is belief without evidence, and we have all the evidence we need. It takes courage, discipline, and fortitude. The fudders were sent here to test you, to see if you can hold out. If you can, your reward will be a handsome one, but you will be expected to hold indefinitely until you either break or at long last the masquerade can be maintained no longer and we can finally get that orgasmic green explosion that those of us with conviction deserve.

It proved that Chainlink devs have shit work ethic and are incompetent(5 years for watered down staking). Staking should have been ready to go and CCIP should be past Proof of Concept. $1000EOY was always a meme anon. I don't know this firsthand, but from what I've heard, what o.g.s really got was this:

1. The early investor. Smartcon 0 was a x100 for people who bought at ICO prices (either in 2017 or at 2018 lows) and sold the Barstool Sports obvious top. Those who were patient and waited through stage-by-the-bathroom, mainnet, and covid to sell the end of defi summer had a huge warchest to go into winter 2020-may 2021 with

2. True believers. Top brass from 2017-18 (or even 2019 who came on with assblaster and bought before the mainnet / coinbase listing pump) Bought 10k, 20k, 50k stacks for like $3k, $4k, $12k. They have generational wealth and, if they bothered to tune in, laughed loudest of all at the trashcan troll at the start of Sergey's keynote. They know it's just a matter of waiting and have moved on to other things, whether trading, building in web3, or just neeting until neet nodes are live in a few years and not even bothering to work to be first in the pool.
When Link finally breaks $1000, the thread here (if /biz/ still exists) will get like 18 replies

Sometimes I think about what it would have been like to be early.

Yes, $1000 EOY started as an ironic schizo joke when the price was somewhere around 60 cents. During the jan 2018 altseason most anons in LINK threads said they had sell targets anywhere between $10 and $50. Some said $100+, but they were few and far between and were most likely exaggerating their sell point in order to make others hold past their real sell point. If your sell target is $50, you tell everyone else it's $75 so they don't sell before you do.

As more and more newfags started pouring in between 2019-2020 and the price climbed above a dollar, more and more people seemed to think that $100+ was a realistic price and even worse, that $1000 was a real possibility

DOGE and Litecoin do just fine. People were unironically thinking DOGE would be a currency on Mars last cycle. What matters is little bullshit campaigns and washtrading + arbitrage. None of this is organic anymore.

LINK could easily end up being at the center of a bubble where people use LINK to buy into LINK staking pools in hope of rent seeking sectors' feeds. Sport pool. Taxi pool. Weather pool. Whatever. All it would take is CZ and the powers that be deciding that they have enough LINK to profit off this and that there's developer will to put together low effort, high story "companies" to cause a catastrophic run on the LINK supply. Initial Pool Offerings even abbreviate to IPOs.

The parabolic movements have always been about narratives.

Lately I find myself thinking about the anon who sold at $4.50 in May 2020 in what he thought was a surefire swing trade. I wish I was on my other computer where I have it saved. He said Link never goes above $5 and would buy back in somewhere below $4 so he could stack more Link. Someone posted in the thread saying these threads always end badly and got ridiculous digits.

How do you even start to value projects that use a token economy?
Staking, finite supply, usage, it seems impossible to predict, in particular because when people then do the math, "what would the price of XRP be if it replaced SWIFT?" = Yolo number. Same with Chainlink, $81000 is honestly the LEAST arbitrary number i have seen and it is an absurd number.

If Crypto goes to zero, it turns out it was all a pipe-dream and we get to see Ryan Gosling and co. in "big short 2 with crypto", i will throw up when some bitch from Disney-Channel-Blacked (the future we chose after all) starts explaining to the audience how much a trillion is and list the marketcap of various coins.

it takes time for information to spread throughout the market and even longer for it to be digested. Less than a thousand watched the conference today on youtube. Maybe a few dozen of us posting in the smartcon thread and maybe a hundred or so lurkers. The information will get out there, but it will take time.

I saw representatives of SWIFT, DTCC and BNY Mellon salivating over their partnership with chainlink. I saw Eric Schmidt the man who turned google into a juggernaut shilling link, forcing sergey to be man and stop being shy about how important chainlink is. I saw arrianna huffington make an appearance and demand more women involved with chainlink. Laugh at that, but they wouldn't want more women involved unless it was a valuable position. She's uncharismatic and braindead, but she made her way to the top based on her vicious networking and socializing skills. Her being involved is almost as bullish as schmidt, since it opens chainlink up to high society.

super simple question to answer
nobody cares anymore. doesn't matter how much it's shilled, the oracle hype train came and went and we went back to the mean.
and yes, typically, news like this, even if it's not crazy to outsiders, would cause a pump or at least not cause a dump, but people have no faith in the team anymore. they dumped millions and millions of LINK when the prices were high and made themselves rich while avoiding questions on staking, only finally "delivering" because they had no other choice.
staking 0.1 in december, lmao, give me a break, it's so clearly forced so people buy in and pump it so Sergey can sell the 50 or so other million LINK he claimed they needed to sell to keep things going.
and their marketing department sucks total ass. they did nothing during the hype and then tried to pump it with weekly "x literal who integrations" weekly. weak team killed a great project.
and Sergey's clearly hitting the bottle, he couldn't even find his plaid shirt this morning after getting wasted last night, pic related. it's over boys.

Sure there is speculation regarding collateralisation but isn't it funny that in this instance they speculation is like 'one day these tokens may not have value' unlike chainlink where the speculation is 'one day these tokens will hopefully have value'. No. Faith is the placement of trust in a person, mechanism or other such thing without a total objective assuredness of their ability to perform. The dictionary would have you believe it is simply the act of having confidence in a person but if one can be certain of a person's ability to act in accordance with one's wishes one hardly needs to have 'faith', rather the ordinary expectation one has in a person who is obligated to fulfil their duty, whatever word you might use for that.
Faith is special. It is in faith that a person finds God, and in the lesser sense, that a man finds the spirit of God in other men.

It is a normie tier trade that is so obvious thats why it dumps, because everyone did it. Now they all descend on biz to fud and hope to buy back lower. Its almost like the swingie days.

What happens when it carries on and liquidates them or forces them to stop out? Thats when the bull market for LINK starts to heat up, and basically happened for years before.

If Link pumps above 45k sats or 8.50 we’ll see a very large pump and liquidation fueld by all the normies selling the news which has become the most brainless easy trade in crypto now (selling le news on Chainlink). You know what happens when everyone catches on to a trend?

I know close to nothing about chain link, the team or the community, so unlike others on this board I don’t see any reason to hate on you. My advice as an outsider is to stay the course and tie your fate to the fate of the project, as I have tied mine to my portfolio. I quit my job almost two years ago, sold my house, haven’t been employed since, I literally have no plan B. I am all in on my portfolio and there are times when I feel afraid, but I do my best to keep my chin up and to stay the course. A most likely story.

Addressing OP, I have been pretty happy with SC2. I was also happy with SC1. The problem is when expectations break away from probability that people have a hard time, and there are usually other factors at play there (probably most often a price entry, not quite a large enough stack, leading to inflated expectations). Don't underestimate how dumb this market is and how important accumulation periods are to drive future price action. LINK hasn't had much of that opportunity to do so because it has been continuously tearing off since its inception.

As lamentable as the last two years have been, I do truly see major expansionary price action as an inevitability. Unfortunately I feel we're at the whim of the economy for now, but I expect to see LINK back towards the top 5 with a vengeance around 2024. I recommend tuning out of biz also.

ES basically said tokens are great and manipulating goy behavior. Why would they want a bunch of goys buying Link tokens and having any control over the network? It’s in their best interest to drive the price down. They can alter the price of using the services however they want. None of this has to be profitable.

I still don’t understand why anyone is excited or thinks that Eric Schmidt cares about your financial well being. As if he wakes up every morning really motivated at the chance of making a bunch of anons rich for holding a shitcoin.

I disagree. If this fails to meet expectations in both worlds, there are some ready to do that. Take, for instance, Geeq and Ocean. Link will have its time in the sun. It will have a guaranteed floor based on the tokenomics, and that floor is expected to be very high. Then there will be actual price speculation on top of that.

Link is a 5 year old shitcoin at this point carried only by marketing. These kinds of (((community))) driven shitcoins get one good pump (last year at $50) then will tailspin into oblivion.

You do realize the only way Link drops to nothing is if everything drops to 0 right faggot?
You fudders wish Link was nothing but you fail to analyze the fact it would mean literally the death of crypto kek.

Other oracles can be made. A philosophy major isn't the only person who can develop these. Especially when he has such a track record like picking LadyLuck as a partner project.

Why would anyone use another oracle when Chainlink already exists?

Yes, great successes they have been. Oraclize, Mobius, Witnet, Band, TRB, API3. Very large amounts of marketshare captured and definitely well positioned to dethrone Chainlink!
