My parents advisor had them buy TSLA and BABA near the market top and baghold the entire year. I've never been more fucking furious in my life and honestly never more astonished to realize boomers will literally pay some random smoothbrain to passively 'manage' their portfolio for them like this.

Thankfully it was only a small amount for them and I've convinced them to halt putting any more into it, but it's fucking insane to think of other boomer parents watching their 'investments' get necked when they're in their twilight years. Most boomers are still thinking this is just a normal downswing or haven't even been scared enough to look at their portfolio.

Big news: hearing from several sources in the UK that some pension funds are quickly becoming insolvent due to huge margin calls they can’t meet.

The massive move in 30y UK swaps and bonds coupled with risk assets tanking behind the problem.

That “explains” the BoE action.

Several experiments with QE in the US kept CPI from going negative. So yeah, I believe it raises it. As I believe that QT will stop inflation. Of course a deep and bloody recession (see unemployment rate vs suicide rate, just as well look at crime stats too since they're always fun) slows spending. QT paired with a higher rate environment really cools business activity.
