More rationally:
>Nasdaq tends to be the more volatile index
>TQQQ/SQQQ is leveraged long/short Nasdaq
>Nasdaq is also weighted towards tech
>Concentration in tech via SOXL/SOXS and with options gives you extreme amounts of leverage

Note that the risk levels with this obscene and degenerate:
>Buy calls for SOXS
>Buy puts for SOXL

In fact, you could do a short synth future on SOXL, sell an ATM call and buy an ATM put with the money. The net entry cost is very low ($20) but you might get it wrong and get fucking clobbered. However, if the market has a drop of like 3%, then SOXL should drop about 8.5%, and you'll get about 400% returns via leverage.

Once I get 100 shares (approx next spring/summer), I'm going to transfer it to a TFSA account and start writing out covered calls somewhat aggressively and treating it like a wheel strategy.
Actually if I'm wheeling, I can't sell puts in a TFSA so I'd be better off to just stick it in my margin account and never sell it, thus avoiding taxable events

We really are only 1 or 2 news events from complete crash of the stock market. If not already there. For every one person slurping there are 5 people who are hovering over the sell button because they were planning to buy a house when the market crashes. Guess what the housing market is crashing.

Full story from bloomberg terminal

"Apple has given up plans to increase production of the latest smartphone model "iPhone 14" on the grounds that demand has not grown as much as expected. This was confirmed by several people familiar with the matter.

The company had initially planned to increase production by up to 6 million units in the second half of the iPhone 14 series, which will go on sale in September, according to a person familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified because the plans have not been made public. However, due to poor initial sales, the company has no choice but to maintain the second half plan of 90 million units.

China is the world's largest smartphone market, but the slowdown in the economy has hurt sales of domestic manufacturers, and the iPhone has been similarly affected. According to a Jefferies Securities memo dated 26th, the number of purchases in China for the three days after the release of the iPhone 14 series was higher than that of the iPhone 13 released in September last year. decreased by 11% .

An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment.

Rising inflation, recession fears and Russia's invasion of Ukraine have affected demand for personal electronics globally. of the research company IDC data show that the global smartphone market is expected to shrink by 6.5% year-on-year to 1.27 billion units this year.

"While supply constraints that were a problem last year have eased, demand constraints are emerging," said Nabila Popal, research director at the firm. She added, "Seeing a lot of inventory in distribution and demand that won't pick up anytime soon, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are panicking and have significantly reduced orders this year." analyst.
