Lets pretend that during smartcon staking will be released, and only original holders from 2017 get to be the first to stake for 5%. How many of you would stake? Something about it would feel off to me. I never sold, or lent my LINK out to anyone. If you think about it, the OGs with their stacks still intact are the ones the want in their club the least. There are a number of ways they can get away publicly about us losing our assets. They can call us racist, problematic, anti-semtic, or whatever. I've decided to keep my stack intact, and will not stake until we can pick our own nodes. Just curious if you all think im schizo, or if this is a general consensus of OG holders here.

could staking be a trap?

why should I stake? 5% yield for the chance to lose my entire stack

After the Celsius fiasco I’d probably only stake 10-20% at first.

Not worth the tax headache of having to report yield as income and losing my neet bux for putting all my linkies at risk

>> No.51654832

>>51654778
I've already made a spreadsheet which calculates income tax from staking yield, and even does FIFO capital gains tax if I sell any LINK to pay for it.

There is no slashing in v0.1 so no reason to lose anything. Also,
'The initial staking pool in v0.1 will be capped in size, offering distinct allotments to node operators, community members, and the coordinator of oracle networks.'
No mention of OGs staking. Likely not until v1.

I thought they passed a tax law specifically that favored staking. Meaning that you could keep compounding without incurring taxes. Does someone have that?

It depends on the country. In Australia it counts as regular income.

Australia is a total slave state though. If you have any money at all and you haven’t gotten out of there, especially concerning crypto, you’re absolutely fucking up.

>> No.51655612

>>51655587
It's really not too bad for crypto. For example, any capital gains on things you've held for over a year only get taxed at half the usual rate.

Selling or staking is all the same for me, only over my dead body ie never moving my links

Is there any chance a nulinker like me (2020) will be able to stake with a measly 1.5k link?

In 6 months to 2 years depending on network growth and the amount of services using staking with the V1.0.

The other effect is to indirectly increase the token price through accumulation of future node providers.
Even if you can immediately get staking income, you will still get something more profitable through a direct increase in the token price of more than 5% staking returns.

Yeah I'd never risk more than 10-20 % of my link stake on staking. I'd wait several years for staking to become more established before trusted anything more than that.
