Some unknown event causes the US dollar to struggle hard. Looking for a new cow to milk, they remember people with a lot of money are investing in cryptos, using NFTs and privacy coins to avoid taxes. Just like buying and trading inherently worthless pieces of art made by dead artists.

But uhoh! The IRS learned how to use a computer! Or better yet, the boomers started hiring their prodigy kids, who have these amazing abilities such as reading and knowing how to go to a website. The ones who made it easy are audited first, and a national witch hunt for tax evaders beings, lead by angry boomers ripped off by SSI and failed investments. They try to be slick and hide the keys, but all it takes is a crowbar to make them open up and snitch themselves. They make a killing from the stolen money, and they start hiring more people with actual knowledge to find more victims. Bitcoin is no longer a magical get rich stock market, but instead its the currency of criminals and "climate destroyers". Politicians sell their crypto first, and then the cryptos drop.

The US watches the digital rupee closely, and if successful creates its own version that will automatically take out taxes from transactions and is "better for the environment". Dumb dems and opportunistic conservatives buy it in hopes it will shoot up like bitcoin did.

So I dunno. If you think I'm right but think you can squeeze out one more bonus round, wait for it to drop, buy a reasonable amount, and be ready for Black Tuesday.
