Being a owner operator truck driver is the ultimate career
No skills required
No hard work required
No special knowledge required
Very high pay. deep into the 6-figure territory

you niggas working petty 9to5s working way harder smarter and for way less when you can just hold a steering wheel all day. lol you sit on your azz at home all day for free and now u can get paid to do it in a truck. on top of that u get to work when u want

When I was fuccing up at school my teachers would always tell me I would be working at McDonalds. Now I'm a owner operator making 250k+ a year working way less hard work and less skill than a McDonalds worker and I get to work when I want while my teachers try to survive off of 45k a year

I dunno my old man was a trucker and I watched him have to beat the bottom of one of these with a sledgehammer to get whatever powder shit he was hauling unstuck. It took about 20 minutes of beating away and was about 100 degrees in Florida. So a fair bit worse than Walmart haha. Not saying there's anything wrong with trucking either, I'm just saying it ain't that easy. I have nothing but respect for truckchads.

Then when you finally recover financially I hope you meet a wonderful wife who gets breast cancer and does from it. I hope the chemotherapy makes you broke again. I've made enough research to come to my conclusions that you can make money trucking but if rates are shitty and freight is slow you aint gonna make it. Not to mention operation cost to start up: the fucking insurance, IFTA, other taxes, etc. Maintenance on your truck as well as fuel. Holy shit fuel. I have never owned a truck but I work for a broker and I deal with carriers every single day. You can make decent money being a truck driver. It is not that simple tho. You find the "perfect" lane for you. That means a lane that you can do constantly with decent rates both inbound and outbound ideally close to your place of residence. There is HUGE money in the pharmaceutical products transportation, so buying a reefer mght be worth it, if not is okay to have a dry van, just make sure it is food grade and extremely well maintained. As in everything in life, you need to have good contacts. Brokers, customers or other fellow carriers that help you find freight and decent conditions. Feel free to askme more shit, I know much more about the industry.

The shortage is pay. The industry boasts big money but many truckers come to the conclusion they're making less than minimum wage after calculating all the unpaid time spent in a truck. Very high turnover rates.

>> No.51543023

>>51542984
Very high is an understatement! Last I heard was about 250% turnover. Or the average driver making it less than 5 months.

>> No.51543026

OP's is the stupidest take I've ever heard. Notice how the faggot left out insurance and payments on a truck like that, not to mention maintenance. Good luck picking up that load that pays well after a long dry spell only to find that your truck has an oil leak that will cost 5 figures to fix, instantly wiping the money you made from the last 20 trips you made. You at least get to go home once a week or so if you happen to find local loads that pay decent enough. At least for that one day a week you get to enjoy your empty house without a family because you barely have the time or energy to do anything besides sleep when you get home.

It's one of the most miserable fucking lives a human could ever lead, constantly scraping with brokers for loads and scrounging for work in different states. If living a smelly life on shitty fast food with nothing but USB-rechargeable devices (and a sleeper, if you're lucky to afford a truck with a nice one) and if you're lucky to not get a ticket for being heavy on an axle or failing inspection because of a rusty bolt, then yes, this kind of job is just the thing for you.

>> No.51543096

>>51533430
Driving for a living sucks ass because you have to hold the steering wheel and pay attention to the road, can't sleep, hold the steering wheel, focus on the road, can't sleep, and YOU HAVE TO FOCUS ON THE ROAD or you die.

Compare that to some work from home corpo job staring at numbers for 15 minutes of the work day then go back to jerking off or playing games or back to the meeting pretending to be more important than the other peacocking middle managers, and still make more than the trucker for being a useless corpo sucking off The Corporation

Unironically just had Buddy fall for this meme and after dealing with the Jew broker mafia the runs the trucking industry he has already put up his truck for sale and for his old trucking gig back

>> No.51543673

Maybe for the right person, with the routes/connections. My dumbass buddy wants to do this, even though he is a horrible business person and terrible with paperwork. He's planning on borrowing against his house to pay for a truck. Very foolish. He has delusions of grandeur, and should resign himself to making a decent living driving for a local fleet where he gets benefits and no liablity. Apparently being an owner/operator is seen as the way to wealth by people who didn't finish high school.
