here is a fake and gay article without evening opening it heres what I bet it mentions
>hydrogen is now more effecient than diesel!
>during a market shortage
>no mention is made regarding the cost of creating the hydrogen fuel cells
Such a retarded technology that assumes an energy surplus to waste on it. Sure they can be a great way to use spare energy from a grid that otherwise would not be used -- like say wind energy that otherwise would be wasted since the poor storage capacity. I hate "EV" memes

There is an argument for hydrogen but cost efficiencies over ice isnt one of them. For example, fuel cells are made with palladium, which isnt exactly cheap. I think they're referring to fuel cells having a higher theoretical efficiency than an ice (up to 40% as I recall?)...but yeah.

Hydrogen is a terrible choice of energy storage because of corrosion, and cryogenics for consumer use are a non-starter, although workable for industry.

Compressed nat gas (CNG) is probably what you will see immediately taking off in consumer vehicles if oil and gasoline really starts to get expensive. Beyond that, carbon-neutral synthesis of some other hydrogen-carrying chemical like ammonia would work. Less energy efficient than hydrogen, but way easier and cheaper to handle.

>we're headed into a great depression

In the era of modern central banking the economy will do whatever the central planners want it to do. It is not going to just plunge into a depression while they are somehow powerless to prevent this. That will only happen if it is what they want to happen, and they don't because A) we've got a cold war to win vs BRICS and B) that's how you get president Sanders (vp AOC) or MAGA Part 2.

It's really, absurdly, laughably easy to stop a depression. You just print money and hand it out. The only reason they've got you thinking a depression might be coming is because, for the moment, that narrative is useful in curbing inflation expectations. This is a big game of chicken, in order to try to control energy prices.

Contradiction and needlessly confusing. Depressions are by definition deflationary. Stagflation is fine on its own and much more accurate.

"Supply shocks" is a Fed spook also. During the height of COVID disruptions maybe but we are well past that. Just a way to misdirect away from MV=PQ by casting all inflation as cost-push even when that is obv nonsense. They can't have people believing printing causes inflation. Hence they will always try to blame supply. Even if the problem is demand doubling with M2 they'll say supply is the problem for not keeping up with that.

If we get into real shit with China over Taiwan, then ya, you could see real cost-push inflation, but what we're seeing now is 90% monetary demand-pull type.

Ah, yes the old "velocity" argument. Fed shills love that one. Anyways, velocity is mis-measured by not including asset price increases.

Step 1) All the printed money has gone chasing after assets because we gave it to wealthy UST holders
Step 2) Asset prices go up, but we don't count those in CPI or GDP or GNP, hence they are too low
Step 3) Velocity then appears to collapse when mathematically derived from those things because we don't include assets in our calculations
Step 4) "See there's no inflation, because we didn't count the things that were inflating! ;)"

>special account that cant be accessed

Yeah, yeah, bank reserves aren't money. We can all see the M2 chart blowing up, fren. Any USTs the Fed bought were ultimately bought with printed broad money because the Treasury doesn't accept bank reserves as payment (and neither do any non-bank intermediaries). The one (and only) exception to this is a commercial bank selling assets (other than treasuries, because they're net buyers of those) to get cash, to buy USTs, to then sell to the Fed for reserves. Basically like converting some assets in the form of stocks or securities or smth to bank reserves at the fed. Go ahead and find me some evidence the banks are doing that and you can have a point about QE not being technically printing.

I assumed you were referring to fed balance sheet growth not being inflation as shills like to do. If you aren't then good.

In your hypothetical case of money being printed but sitting locked away in a vault then yes, it has no impact on demand of anything hence no measurable inflation and it is debatable if it is really "money" if it can't ever be used. It's an interesting thought experiment but only that, because it's not what happened*. The M2 chart is all money that has gone chasing after goods, services and assets. None of it is locked away and there was plenty of velocity: it was just in the SPY and QQQ but that wasn't measured.

*Reverse repo is one recent exception, as it effectively seems to act like a money sponge that sequesters excess money supply, and indeed it is a tool the Fed is using to fight inflation now that it's leaked into CPI where they can't hide it.

Correct I know that and agree. But a lot of anons here are saying the only way to get out of this is either some sort of crash or to hike rates to 10% and cause a crash. We've had only 1 instance of high inflation in modern history, to assume thats the only way to fix it is silly.

Then idk what position you are arguing. How to stop CPI? 1st I would say, we really can't afford to because we need high CPI, to steal purchasing power from bond holders and give it government.

2nd I would say: to control CPI long term we simply need to control the rate of money supply increase to be less extreme long term. The problem in markets now is that the bond market is freaking out and is demanding that the Fed get CPI to 2% YOY at light speed to reduce their real losses to inflation. This means not just slowing or stopping M2 growth to average it out, but actually shrinking it: outright deflation and big time asset price correction guaranteed. The Bond Market is demanding a depression to save their portfolios, else they're threatening to dump and send rates to the moon. The Fed is obliging them because it doesn't want to have to buy up all those bonds to cap rates like BOJ is having to do.

The only other ways to solve to problem would be a dramatic increase in supply of labor or goods or energy, lowering their real cost. Then you could have CPI and rates normalize without murdering M2 and growth stocks could rip back up. I don't think this is happening any time soon.

The fed wants more companies behaving like FedEx, it's through this preparatory downsizing and layoffs that they will reduce core CPI.
companies up until now hadn't been doing this because they were ultimately expecting the fed to relent, and after all, with such a tight hiring environment why would they layoff staff.
it's this cross economy capitulation that would A: actually crash equity markets to a long term bottom.
B: ironically give the fed permission to pivot at least to a flat rate, likely elevated compared to what came before, but lower than what they are saying.

the result would be a slow recovery, or else inflation would simply return as it did through the 1970s, indeed structural issues with energy markets (ie geopolitical/ green energy transition) may make that kind of stagflation inneviatable, IMO secular bear is a good bet for the 2020s.

He's sort-of trying to but no font of oil is going to come online anywhere near quick enough. We are struggling just to get back to normal levels, we don't have the excess capacity to exceed that and have super cheap energy. You are basically describing the shale oil boom, and yeah, that was what set up 10 years of disinflation, mostly on the backs of oil producers eating huge losses. It's pretty much done, at this point.

They'll need to find another oil producer that can increase production. There's basically 1 place that could theoretically produce a lot more oil than they already do: Venezuela. Lots of capital, time, and political change required. Not fast enough for the bond market to be happy, so...

Well spoilers: the WEF doesn't get everything right, they don't have total control. You can tell because their supposed plan is waaaaay underperforming in both the deaths and cases departments.

Its like the limitless pill. It gives me so much energy, like being a child again. Everything is much more vibrant and life becomes easy. You never feel hungry and lose weight too. Its the best, but I don't have ADD so I only got it by paying for it. 30 mg pills are life changing. The with drawls were the worst, I never felt so tired and depressed. Holy fuck it was intense.

Feels good at first and makes you very productive, but over time it turns you into an emotional zombie and if you can't limit your intake you will nuke your brain and inevitably turn into a super depressed doomer whenever you are off it. It's only worth it for very limited amounts of time where you have to get a lot of shit done
