A whale with a bald man as his ENS is buying emojis and digits with 1000+ ETH in total volume. Flipped the chinese whales volume by 2x. Wish I had enough liquidity left to get my own, this might be the last chance to get in.

If you're the illiterate pajeet in that scenario it's probably better to assume everything you could possibly register is shit. I don't make these threads so some brainlet immediately pulls up ENS for the first time and thinks he can play the registry this late in the game when he can barely even put together a sentence.

People are too scared of the renewal fees right now but the rise of 3L is inevitable. You can shill your good names and stuff here maybe someone will make a bid or tell you if they're actually good. There's a lot more than just digits selling, look up @AllLettersBot on twitter to see some examples (some are wash trades though).

Those are the most liquid categories but there's a bit of action everywhere. Twitter is where the party is going on, if you know where to look you will see it's more than emojis and digits.
>Also how were they distributed with airdrops?
No, newfag. Digits were available to be registered only a few months ago just like anyone could register "aufhauiwhuiwf.eth" right now, although ENS has been around for years. Some people picked up on it and started a club around it. Same with Emojis, those were getting shilled on here around end of last year, people just registered them when few recognised their worth. The only thing that was ever airdropped was the ENS token which is purely for governance.

You assume emojis will be programmed the same way into all mobiles forever. If at any point your emoji is removed from most mobiles, the address is worthless.

Digits are an instantly understandable flex to be in the "top" 1000 or 10,000 that have completely universal intelligibility. The entire world can instantly see you are a part of a very finite group, that is also extremely practically useful (easy to say over the phone, for instance).
Understanding digits is understanding ENS 101. If you don't get them you don't get any of it. All of the opposition to it is just people seething because it started without them.

You pay renewal fees that flow into the DAO. There's literally nothing they can do to take away your domain as long as you pay the fee, it's hard-coded into ENS and can't be changed. They could adjust the fees as it's written in the constitution which would be hard to actually get through the DAO but even if it did is a non-problem for everyone except hoarders like me. If you actually read into it you would quickly realise the amount of effort they're putting into ENS to keep it as decentralised and sustainable as possible probably trumps every brainlet criticism you can come up with.

>>51502958
You're speculating because you think it drives adoption, I'm speculating because I want to make money. Not saying other nameservices are useless but I'm not gonna build a resale collection on them. Ethereum is simply the biggest fish, companies almost exclusively buy .eth.
>>51496403
There was some discussion by vitalik recently to make a vote to release single characters like "x.eth" and offer them to reliable parties who will issue subdomains to mitigate some of the future squatting issues. So I assume it is technically possible if the DAO agrees on it through multiple proposals.
>>51498231
™, ®, © suffix is pretty much the same as _ or - prefix. Some degenerates decided to register them but nobody with notable amounts of money actually buys them at least so far. AFAIK not a single whale owns any of them, probably gonna be a baghold for most.

Categories and Listings are two different things. If it's not already in there by default and you want it added to the category you'll probably have to request it in the discord, I don't know how long that takes or if they take requests at all right now. Flex/hype drives price, not utility
If ENS ever gains adoption, normalfags will be able to make do with [name]#[numbers].eth or [combination of multiple words].eth; there's no tangible increase in utility from having a short ENS name, because nigger#420.eth is as easy to remember as 420.eth.
While "rare" ENS will always have at least some value due to flex potential, that doesn't mean that their price can't fall significantly
For example, BAYC arguably had more utility than ENS, because holding one got you valuable airdrops and entrance to their sekrit network, yet their price has crashed significantly during the bear market
