Ritalin and Vyvanse were prescribed to me in high school but I never renewed the prescription when I graduated. The positives did not outweigh the negatives of long term use.
What I found to be a surprisingly good combo is half a teaspoon of black pepper (it helps your body absorb more nutrients and as a plus I think it increases test) a multi vitamin, milk thistle, coffee and L-Theanine. The last two aren’t strictly necessary.

In the beginning it's a 10/10. Make sure you start with the lowest dose and have a list of things you want to do. I started having crash symptoms after a month or two. NAC can help. If you crash early in the afternoon, re-dosing instant release dexamph can also help (dexamin). That's the downside of Vyvanse. If you take too little, you can't really re-dose for the rest of the day. If you take too much, you'll have a hard time falling asleep. Melatonin might help there.

I’ve had a modafinil prescription for a while and I keep collecting the pills, but use it pretty rarely, mostly when I have a busy day and slept less than 6 hours the night before.

I haven’t had any side effects (although when I take the full pill, it pushes my sleep back and screws up my sleep schedule). I took Ritalin before and that was way more powerful in terms of focus/euphoria, but it only lasted like 4 - 5 hours. Ritalin made my hands feel cold though and constricted blood flow in my fingertips.

Personally, I suggest not using these drugs. Instead just work on things you naturally like (i.e. which you can focus on naturally) and build good habits. I knew a math IMO gold medal winner and this guy would work from literally 8am to his bedtime at midnight with maybe 4 15 minute breaks in the day (breakfast, lunch, tea, and dinner). He worked out 3 days a week and also sometimes took a 30 minute nap. So this guy worked something like 13 hours a day (every day, no rest days) on hard math shit. And I lived with him and I know 100% that he took no prescription drugs. So its possible if you build up the habits that you can work for long stretches at a time with 100% focus.
