Also worth noting is that there is a correlation to population growth. If you have a stagnating or shrinking population over say, 2-3 decades, there's fewer people to prop up the population and the amount of spending power decreases. I don't like what they've done to the Americas, but migration is essential to keep population growth up.

Someone posted a few threads ago that the US was designed to be an economic paradise, formed by merchants who could exploit the colonies of the world. Eg, we can't have your iPhones unless Vietnam children suffer. The average US citizen seems to be a debt cow to buy thing, while poor countries have to produce or process shit for us. It'll be interesting to see if there's a demographic shift and America ends up doing that while another, smaller nation takes over in several decades
