I put 25 bucks in an online poker site a few months ago.
I'm at 200 dollars now but I play very casual.
If you do end up playing give yourself limits and stick to it.
so budget out of your monthly income how much you want to use to play. Take it out of your entertainment side of the budget.
Give yourself a limit of how much you want to make. So for me it's when I double my buy in or lose half of my profit.
So I was playing with the 25 bucks and I made 100 bucks in one hand. So I stopped for that month then the next month I lost 50 bucks so I stopped for that month.
Then I made another 50 bucks last month and just yesterday I doubled it again.

But it's dangerous to let it all slip

It can work if you stay away from the carnival games that are -ev. The only beatable games are; poker, blackjack, video poker (only if you can find a machine with the proper payouts, usuallywill be in the high limit room), and spots betting. (Slots and some carnival games can be +ev of it has a progressive jackpot)

As a business, you could run a blackjack team. Similar to what the MIT blackjack team did.
Or run a stable of poker players and stake them to play.

Thise are the two business options, but either can be done "professionally" as a solo grinder. I know guys who's ev is over $300/hr at blackjack, with a ROR of nearly $0 due to the size of their bankroll and their betting structures
