How much worse will the stock markets get when the railroad strikes start on Friday this week?

Copypasted this shit from another anon;

On September 16th, we could possibly see the biggest railroad strike to happen since 1877. Over 115,000 railworkers are expected to strike and walk out leaving entire lines of trains idle on the tracks. This is significant since over 1/3 of our supply chains come from the trains. Food, metals and even coal come from the railroads.

The MSM claim that certain unions like UPRR have reached tentative agreements. But it really does seem like they were only tentative and didn't really go anywhere. Class 1 railroads are already reducing service and Tuesday will also have networks shut down belonging to Norfolk.

If this strike goes on for even a month, we could probably go into a Great Depression real fucking soon. This might also inspire the rest of the freight industries like longshoremen, truckers, mailmen etc. to go on strikes throughout the nation too.

How do I stop getting myself into a weed coma and schizophrenically revenge trade my portfolio away 2k to 5k losses at a time. I went long the vix, Nancy goes to Taiwan and prints my calls but I was too schizo to take a daily 30% profit on 75% of my portfolio. Missed out on plug doubling even though I wanted to get in when all the insiders bought at 16.50 but didn't because the financials are obviously not legit. Played NVDA well when they adjusted Q2 guidance before earnings and bought and sold for profit. Then I sold naked short strangles when it dumped to 135 and got fucked by IV and martingaled like a tard so I couldn't get out green. Then I flipped back to SPY and continued to martingale like a tard and wipe out all my legit daily gains. There seems to be a direct correlation with FED news days, weed smoking, and an unsuccessful martingale to a $5k loss. I'm good for about 2 of those days a month. Then the rest of the days I seem to do fine when I clear my head. I need some motivation to keep doing this, I really dont want to get a job unless it's doing this same thing with a team.

>is there a strategy or system to your plays?
Well long vix play was just TA on the charts, they printed but my strike was 26 based on TA and it only popped to 25 and my greedy ass wanted 1 more point so I didn't take a $10k profit when it was there. The naked short strangles I was selling the 15-20 delta with varying DTEs trying to day trade them, lock in gains on one side, martingale out of the other side. but now i see how silly it is to do it that way with an account my size. No need to eat up that much margin being short if Im essentially just swing trading them. I have found some success with spy long calls and puts that are slightly out of the money with a few weeks to spare. The 30-40 delta usually. And if I don't smoke weed all day everyday I have a good system of waiting for things to settle in the morning and start small and just lock in 1 to 3% daily gains swing trading these long options intraday. But then I get high to celebrate another great day trading and winning, then it's 2pm and I hop back on the computer and my indicators are all off and I know I shouldn't play, but then the low volume afternoon algo pump/dump tempts me give it one more go, then I end up long 100 contracts and can't take the heat and cut losses every single time. When I know the indicators are saying DONT PLAY. But Idc in the moment. Pigs get slaughtered. How do I stop? It's the weed I know it

There are still faggots in here who think they've fully priced in the recession and the price they're seeing on the ticker is the post-recession price and it only goes up from here

I hate these irrationally optimistic faggots so fucking much. 4 QUARTERS OF ZERO GDP GROWTH and you're "buying the dip" god you are so fucking gay

Yes my puts and shorts printed today, but I should have made even more fucking money because the fake 4 day scam pump shouldn't have even happened in the first place

>it seems you need to put a ton of cash to see a decent return
What you get is relative to what you put in. What you lose is relative to what you put in. Hence how the risk/reward factor works.
>is there a good percentage point where you call it quits
I don't know, what's your goal? Look at this random ETF. It's grown by 70% in the past 5 years. It's shrunk by 2% today. If you bought yesterday and sold today, you lost money. If you bought yesterday and sold 5 years from now, you may get 170%.
You'll also notice that there has been some major dips and major peaks. You'll still outpace inflation selling on a bad day (where this one has shrunk by 2% today) if you hold your money for those whole 5 years. If you're a midnight lamp-burner, you can probably min-max things to get an evem netter return, but no offense you're probably too retarded and lazy to do that well.
Just play the long game. Your £100 became €170 in 5 years when you want XYZ big purchase. But, £100 is just £100 in 5 years in cash. The longer you hold, the longer you gain compound interest on your investment and make more money. I'd recommend against selling on transient red days like today (because of the shit CIP index that was published) and think more longterm.

I try my best to keep my finger on what economies are capable of and the UK always blows my mind how they're still standing. For originally being the center of the world they've cast aside all that made their economy powerful and now pretty much do nothing unique, or even note worthy, besides being a major banking center.
The quality of life in the UK has fallen so much, and jobs pay such shit wages versus the US. It seems like its on a collision course with a horrific recession or depression.

Maintain a huge cash position and I buy puts and short sell shares, but sometimes i reach my position limits and can't short anymore according to my own rules. So if i hit the cap all i can do is cope and seethe until the market finally dumps and make all the money back + some, but it should have been more the whole time

In addition to this, I'm looking for stocks to go long that are showing strength that look like they will do well once the dump is over - right now Solar / Renewable energy stocks are looking decent
