Because food prices and practically everything other than shelter lags behind energy prices in general you dip shit.

Shelter prices lag behind fed interest rates.

It makes sense to switch focus now that raw materials for energy prices are falling. Im guessing it’ll take about 3 more months(6total) for the fall in energy to effect food prices, and everything else. By which time the interest rate increases will start to effect the economy(takes about a year) further reducing shelter, rents etc and dampening demand for everything. It will be very hard for inflation to be above 3% next summer at this rate. I think 2% is long off however due to a shift in labour forces. The economy can take 3% for a few decades though.
