I unironically wouldn't mind being a tavern/inn owner. Be 'open' from 7pm-2am video game time, offer rooms and food/ale, and buy and sell information for people who want to go on quests.

It turns out NPCs are currently "free" in that they are literal robot slaves that we don't pay. We just pay Kevin to make them do stuff. Kevin costs us 140,000 dollars a year, but he does other stuff too.

You're telling me we're going to fire Kevin and hire how many Kevjeshes to just literally play all these characters 24/7? And we're just going to autotranslate their moonspeak into English?

Has anyone worked out the numbers on this over a 20 year plan? I mean the Kevin's who made Ultima and Everquest work are probably dead but their games are still making money from free robot labor.

Hey, me again, just got back from a meeting with corporate, turns out this is literally what free to play online PVP gaming is, particularly on mobile.

Turns out we've been using people (many of them poor) as npc content since Quake went online. We don't even pay them. Why would we start paying them? half of them literally pay us just for character skins.
