$7.5 billion ETH futures need to be dumped within 2 days

ETH futures are for future delivery of ETH1 they will not include ETH2 meaning they will be worthless in 2 days due to the merge

futures are IOUs

owing ETH futures means I Owe yoU ETH in the future

ETH1 futures means i owe you ETH1 in the future

ETH1 will drop 90% to $200 once the merge hits and ETH2 will be the one trading at the current $17000 price

the eth1 chain becomes the execution layer and the beacon chain the consensus layers. that's why it's being called "the merge".

man this kinda makes me realise how much of shitshow it actually is, ETh1 Eth2.. merge it... lmao you could buy ETH2 before the chain was live... at ETH1 prices.. what a scam

>> No.51394204

>>51394133
there are no ETH1 and ETH2 tokens. those "ETH2 tokens" you can buy are actually IOUs on staked ETH. these are regular ETH that are locked up in the staking contract and cannot be withdrawn for now, but large staking operations can sell IOUs on the tokens they staked and that's what you are buying when buying STETH or similar tokens. for the ethereum chain there is only ETH.

In the event the merge creates two chains (PoW ETH and PoS ETH) will this show in all wallets? Is one wallet more likely to see this if it happens?

>> No.51394307

>>51394250
the original ETH chain cannot possible continue to run due to the difficulty bomb, which will make mining extremely hard in about 1 day and 8 hours from now. people could go ahead and fork the chain at that point, remove the difficulty bomb, and keep on mining on the forked chain, but this would create a new chain and could be done all the time at every block.
there are people who announced to make this happen for ETH-POW but this should be more considered as a new chain which airdrops balances to holders of the ETH chain.

of course they created a new chain, they needed a hard fork to change it (which made the entire concept of difficulty bombs kind of ridiculous but meh). in other words they had to change the code of the node software and distribute it within the network, and that would also be required for continuing the PoW chain after the merge.

PoS: You need money for a percentage of the control of the network
PoW: You need money AND the infrastructure to have a percentage of the control of the network
PoW is superior, but needs a lot of energy.
Ethereum after the merge will be a green crypto which will attract the masses next bullrun and actually cause the flippening
But
Ethereum has to be replaced at one point, as it gets vulnerable to those, who have an infinite money supply, but this event will take its time, since the wealthy need an exclusive and expensive blockchain

There is. The ETH foundation is pumping bitcoin by selling ethereum, and will use bitcoin to pump ETH2. And only those who stake 32ETH1 and keep their computers on 24/7 will receive ETH2.
