Proof of Stake is useful if you want to run a permissioned network. it would make sense for nationstates. the world reserve currencies though. can't be proof of stake, as then you can exclude entities.

Proof of Work and Proof of Stake are Sybil Control mechanisms, by itself they say nothing about security, decentralization or efficiency.
Its basically just Spam Protection.
