I don't mind it. I work in a high end professional environment with good people who are interested in doing a good job more than politics. We all get paid pretty well and the boss is good and treats his staff as assets not expenses.

I can't imagine working for someone else where those conditions were not met.

I mostly just keep this job as cover fire socially. I'm half way to 'making it' but not quite there yet (they have no idea). When that happens I'll reevaluate, but as long as it's interesting, I'll probably keep with them, even if I don't have to. With a few more holidays that usual of course, and living in a nicer place, etc.

No interest in being idle all day. Worthless waste of life. Just get to do what I want rather than what I have to.

It's all about tolerance, if you can't tolerate your job, you won't be able to do it. The only times you do a job you can't tolerate is out of necessity, like feeding your kids or making sure you're not a deadbeat dad that can't provide. No one likes working, if you end up doing the thing your passionate about, it becomes your norm and you get bored of it. The perfect thing is to have the balance of working a tolerable job that brings you enough money and developing your skills/passion/hobbies/projects in your free time.

Did a nursing program, got an RN license, became suicidal, starting drinking, started isolating; knew I had to quit, started working part-time and switched careers, best decision I ever made. I used to like work (webdev), I was friends with a fair number of people and we'd hang out after work together. Management and COVID ruined everything, though. Now none of my friends are still with the company, so I just clock in and never talk to anyone.
For what it's worth, I genuinely do enjoy helping people, and it bothers me when other people don't. There's some balance obviously in that you don't want to be taken advantage of, but it's more fulfilling than just working by yourself on shit that won't matter anyways.
