well you'd need to take the bet against the merge being ethereum's panacea, Avalanche remains undefeated in its performance and I think it will rise again. A lot of memeshit out there recycles classical consensus protocols and people think it's actually new. See: SOL, Sui, Aptos. I mean I'll buy bags of this shit because people are fucking dumb and don't understand anything to do with crypto. They don't realise that Sui and Aptos have consensus protocols made (and discarded) by the protocol architect of Avalanche. Look up HotStuff. This all assumes Avalanche will rise again as a defi star. Once Ethereum's gimmicks like the various L2s and Merges are out the way, there's no more secret sauce to splash around. People will have to actually start using it.
