i just checked out the numbers.
2021 saw 10,000 canadians euthanized, accounting for 3.3% of all deaths in the country for 2021.
a lot higher than i would have thought. You'd think to meet threshold for grievous, irremediable and foreseable death there would need to be a panel or oversight or something... how the hell can they do that 27 times a day on average across a population of 38 million!?!?

Life is too hard for some so the option is given. My past wife worked as a senior nurse and she was the one that the "last kiss" was administered by. It wasn't legal then but there was a quiet understanding within the medical community that if the patient was lucid and in horrific pain that if they asked and discussed it, they would be given a nice injection to put them to sleep forever.

I just want to say it's absolutely true but not in the way some of you might think.
It's voluntary and often suggested to people on disability as an alterative to poverty because disability only pays $1150 per month for say someone in Toronto where a 1br costs probably around 2k.
Also everything is insanely expensive, esp food.
So basically life is shit for everyone who isn't doing really well financially, esp disabled who just get smoked to the point they feel no option but to enroll in MAID(medical assistance in dying) and then there's a short cool off period to make sure they really want to get the final booster and if they do...g fuckin g
