Furthermore it gets 94 MPG. Was it worth the gas savings?
70489 miles / 94 = 749.88 gallons of fuel bought in 10 years.
Assume average price was $2.50 over the last 10 years.
$1874.70 spent on gas.
Now compare to a car that gets 24 MPG.
70489 miles / 24 = 2937.04 gallons of fuel bought in 10 years.
$7342.60 spent on gas.

So yeah, the guy saved $5467.90 on gas over 10 years... until he had to spend $29842.15 to replace the battery.

Bought a D17A1 and a K20A2 for like 3.5k (for both). Did the swap in my garage and took me about two weeks (could have done it waaayyyy sooner but was waiting on the BOV for the turbo I bought).
Overall, it cost about 4k max? With use of tools, oils/coolants, and other shit (had to switch mounts and buy custom wires).
I even rebuilt an Evo 6 for 10k, practically building an entirely brand new motor for it.
+30k for a battery, not including install/labor? You're insane.
Not only is the car not worth that, but the battery itself. You could literally buy a Type R, STI, or get a charger, challenger, or 5.0gt right out the lot for that price.
You'd have to be completely brain dead, or know jack shit about cars (like a woman), to fall for the EV meme.

>> No.51351752

>>51351346
Just to add to this:
My buddy opted for an LS1 swap for his 280z (which was a dumb move imo, but fuck it that's irrelevant). His entire swap, including an AM SC kit that was considered one of the top kits available (dude is pushing about 880hp to the wheel, not even at max) and the entire swap costs him 20k (he also needed stiffer coils, as the front end sagged and he was afraid the mounts would bust with bouncy springs on the front end).
So in reality, I'd say it was close to maybe like 16k or 17k (max). Which is a lot, but I can assure you it's worth every penny and he could sell it much higher than what he originally purchased it for (including all the mods and labor).
Now, that EV that OP posted? Hah, you'd be lucky to get 70% back of that battery price, and 70% is being extremely generous.
That just goes to show that EV (in general) is not worth the retail price, and I wouldn't be surprised if it costs about 1/3 of the price to build them. In fact, with those cars, I'd only buy them used (if I ever buy one) as they're not worth lot price.

>>51350754
Only DI ones with no port injection do, and you can pretty easily clean it up with intake cleaners, and in the worst case you can polish it like new with walnut blasting. You should look up how prone your engine is to valve carbon and work this into your maintenance schedule.
Many new engine designs are doing dual injection to resolve this. Port injection is used at idle (and it makes idle smoother too). The detergents in fuel melt carbon before it builds up.
