$250 a year just to get $240 back in use-it-or-lose it goyslop credit and point categories worse than many no AF cards
What's the appeal, exactly? Will it get me laid? I have told women about my $200,000 crypto portfolio and none of them care so I might need to give Credit cards a shot.

I used to have a good time cycling cards and feeling smug about getting 1.5%-2% back. But then I found the new motherload of credit cards: 0% / APR for extended Terms. You can get credit cards that have 0% interest for 18 months. With inflation, that's basically a free 9%+ cash back. So basically I rack up my 2k a month payments and just pay a huge 36k lump sum before the massive interest kicks in. They count on your overspending or forgetting when the 0% interest period is up but other than that it's sweet. Also I invest that 36k in treasury bonds or CDs in the meantime so I actually am earning 1-2% still while inflation eats away at my credit card balance for 18 months. People even smarter than me may know how to transfer balances between cards so you don't even need to pay off the balance and can instead keep transferring between new credit cards, but I haven't looked too much into that yet.

I lose money on it yearly because who the fuck spends $5k on useless shit every year and most stores are really anal about amex or just don't accept it but I always try anyways

As long as you pay it off every month and avoid the trap of being tempted to spend more than you would without the card, rewards are basically free money.

For better or worse basically all retailers in the US already build transaction fees into the prices of their products, so unless you're at one of the rare gas stations or other stores that offers a cash discount, you're already paying for everyone else's credit card rewards even if you don't have one.

Look for a card with rewards on something you have to buy anyway, gas and groceries are probably the most common thing for most people. Use the card to pay for those things and pay off the balance every month before the interest kicks in. Depending on the card this basically makes whatever 2-6% cheaper. I'm bretty sure amex gives credit history internationally so if i wanted to apply for a loan or mortgage or whatever thefuck i could do so anywhere with history to back it, whereas say TD they won't do shit
I could be wrong
The other benefits being if you travel amex provides solid insurance should you need it, travel car, hotels, etc.

Points and bonuses bas on how much you spend are retarded, with the exception of groceries and gas. For every other category you're just being lured into consoooming for the promise of some measly % of a purchase you'd be better off not making in the first place.
