Fresh stacker here. Bought several different coins to see which I liked. The most impressive looking one is definitely the leaf. The detail and finish is just insane. The absolute worst was the silver eagle. The eagle is just dull and looks like shit.

My 2nd fav is the armenian noahs ark. Really nice looking coin on the ark side. However, on the crest side it was missing some detail on the shield so that was a little disappointing.

Is it ever worth paying a higher premium to stack things like leafs?

The last season of Europe was Summer of 1914.
Still their present collapse is especially enjoyable collapse since it's almost entirely their own doing and could've avoided it years ago if they weren't so high off their own farts.

Why? If you're buying gold you should only buy coins, the premium is already really low and they have the security features built-in.

I only see silver bars be a reasonable bar to buy since coins have a high premium right now.

>Columbian halves
The 1892 is generally a little bit pricer than the 93 because it matches the 42. Can still be found for the same price as pre64 junk if you look around.

>Commem Modern Silver Dollars
Great way to stack USD backed silver. I like to scoop them up from $18-$21 with the box and coa, but those aren't a requirement.

>1982 Washington Halves
I've seen a lot of these lately going for standard face value or slightly above. Anytime you can snag something US backed and slightly numismatic for the same price as generic pre64 it's a good buy. Picrel was bought at $20fv

You do this enough and you start to see how the premiums on the numismatic stuff all tend to return to a mean value. There are a small few outliers, but in general whether it be coins, spoons, or jewelry- it all falls back to it's metal content. Just look at how much you can sell canadian junk silver to a refinery for. Same price as scrap essentially.

Also I agree with proof sets right now, most are incredibly cheap because Coin shops are getting flooded with them by boomers and hate them. I just bought the 2005 silver proof set for the same price as US 90% since the shop was so sick of them never being sold. Granted I legitimately like them and buy for numsifagging reasons, not so much for stacking.

Sure thing. I hadn't seen any of these for a long time, and then they started showing up recently in a lot of local auctions. There was a recent death of a silver stacker in my area and one of the local auction houses had something like 13 or 14 different coin auctions to sell off all his stuff. He had a lot of US Mint boxed stuff. I've been watching some of it sell and scooping up some for myself when the deal is right.

nothing works really; if the person is going to stack they will stack, all it takes is being introduced to the concept for a stacker to start

normies wont, and then they will complain about lviing paycheck to paycheck or being broke. you can say "hey check it out, i have money and its because i stack" and they still wont get it.

its better to not tell others generally unless the are already a stacker IMO

waited in line for almost 1 hour at the Central Bank today but I got 50 of these for $6.42. .3oz ASW. Figured out the Central Bank prices their silver and gold coins using the opening price of LME. Then you're buying precious metals for the wrong reason, friend. Read about the US banking and monetary system. There is a premium and interest owed on every single one of your paper dollars. The word "dollar" actually means silver, it's the english definitive of the "thaler" which literally means silver coin. This is what dollars were throughout US history, silver coins. Over time we switched to a more representative system of money, paper money you could redeem for a silver dollar whenever you wanted. The paper was a receipt for real money. Eventually people were convinced that the paper bills themselves were money and the bond between them was removed.
You are taking your government issue credits and exchanging them for real money. All of your ancestors considered silver money. And the exchange rate is getting better in your favor. You should feel great
If you're just buying to turn around and sell in a few years for a little profit when the prices go up, you're not in this for the right reason. You're still thinking of things in terms of fiat.

Lately I've been feeling strange emotions towards my stack. I have progressed from fondling, to kissing, to sleeping and cuddling with. I want to take it to the next step, but I'm not sure if it'd be a wise choice. The last love I had was a pepperoni hot pocket, and when I finally made my move, I regretted it. Fresh out of the microwave, I ended up with second degree burns all over my genitals and thighs. It was one of the most embarrassing and painful times of my life, and for the following weeks I wanted to rope. Only by the love of God did I manage to make it through that extremely trying time. So understandably, I am apprehensive this time around. Will I be left brokenhearted again, or is advancing on my stack a smart play? Any input or similar tales to tell fellow stackers?

Heard about a movie the other day where the story was about a gold vault robbery, the main robber had to hide all the gold so when the police raided his house they couldn't find anything, the guy had hidden it by melting it down into a bannister for stairs that he sprayed/painted black which the police literally had their hands on as they went up the stairs looking for it.

The story is the best way to hide something is in plain sight.

Yeah burying it in a crawlspace is a good plan, perhaps underneath ductwork or pipes so if someone had a detector down there they'd get interference/overload signals. If you're not a fagtard you'll need to haul out the displaced dirt and reserve the dust or surface dirt from starting the hole to camouflage the spot once buried, people have eyes and if you do a lazy sloppy job it'll be clear the ground was disturbed.

Rumor is that Queen Elizabeth might be on her death bed right now. If she dies this week, what does that mean for coins? Would Prince Charles instantly be printed on the reverse of all the 2022 coins? If 2022 Britannias have both Queen Elizabeth and King Charles, which would be worth more? Will there suddenly be a new premium in coins that feature her?

Apparently when there's a monarch change, the previous monarch is minted on coins for the remaining year that they were reigning monarch. What I don't know is if that applies up to the death of the old monarch or the coronation of the new monarch. Also I don't know when the year gets changed on minting coins. Are they minted before or at the start of a new year?

King Charles coins won't be minted until the beginning of his first full calendar year in office, for the remainder of 2022 (or whatever year the Queen dies) they'll still make Queen coins. I avoid generic gold bars for the following reasons:
>aren't as popular as coins
>not as pretty as coins
>easier to fake than coins
>harder to sell than coins
>hardly any price difference than coins

This is just my stance for gold 1 oz or smaller. If I had the money to buy a kilo bar of gold or something bigger, I totally would. Also, the hand poured buttons from the Perth Mint are really nice, as are the dragon bars and stuff from the Royal Mint. Generic bars though? No thanks. A well-known branded bar sealed in certificate card like that is very safe. Unlike what the other guy said, you won't ever have problems selling it. Just make sure to keep your receipts, because that can give you tax advantages if you ever need to sell it. Plus it also proves you didn't steal it.
Those bars are fine, I just like coins more. Only problem is, the fancier ones are expensive and basically just a waste of money. So I'm going to stick with krugerrands, which aren't the cheapest but are only about $20 more than britannias. It's not just because I like the coin, but also for practical reasons (gold/copper allow is more resistant to damage and doesn't need capsule). Might get a Noah's Ark though, if I still got money left over in the end.
For your next 1 oz gold you might look into britannias or maples, they've got some security features.

This isn’t true though. The difference between the cheapest 1oz gold bar and a 1 oz gold eagle is $125. That’s pretty substantial. Think of it in terms of the purchasing power it commands today, and then add some premium onto it due to it's physical utility and the fact that many other paper/financial assets everyone own will be losing purchasing power.
People own investments and paper because they wrongfully believe that it will procure them even more paper dollars and that their purchasing power will increase at a later date. However once the bond market starts to crack then much of the purchasing power they think they have will be diluted by the banks trying to keep themselves alive. The physical purchasing power will buy you a lot, as people will be flush with goods, but they will have lost their assets that have "exchange-value". People won't want dollars that will be losing half their value every 6 months, etc. Excess production from manufacturing will not want to be sold for those same dollars either, but companies will be DESPERATE to offload them for a stable asset. I think in this environment, gold will command an extraordinary level of purchasing power. This is because the bond market will likely be propped up and the slow bleed of dollar-dilution will be causing turmoil in the streets as the pressure builds. And the banks are the ones making the moves, and we should all assume they behave in a way that keeps them alive.

They can weather the storm, but in times of extreme hardship, the sell pressure could be insurmountable and stocks may honestly never recover in REAL terms, relative to the purchasing power they have today while the bond market is stable.
Now, there are lots of stocks out there and they all need to be individually assessed, as commodity producers with a necessary good will survive and their production will be necessary and able to absorb currency devaluation. Netflix? Tesla? Crocs, or whatever the fuck? Na, probably not so much.
Remember, we have been able to lower interest rates every single time we have had a downturn since the 1980s. The economy is saturated in debt (toxic paper losses) and there will not be some magical reflation of things going forward. The ability for the market to crash and for people ride the market back up to new highs after 2008 and 2020 is only possible with the bond market still intact. I anticipate that stocks get sold off, or if inflation is so mad we see a melt-up in stocks, they will still likely lose purchasing power in real terms.
When the bond market collapses, do not expect to get rich with paper assets, as we will all be much poorer once that wealth-effect (ponzi) breaks. And as far as I can tell, the best way to cash out of the ponzi is physical, un-leveraged assets (houses are leveraged by the mortgage industry. You want to own a house, but the purchasing power of it will reduce back down to a consumer good as opposed to an investment vehicle).
Make sense?

As you can see, if premiums stay constant, the % gain on the Eagle and Buffalo are the same. Obviously, initial investment on the Eagle is higher, so you actually gain more in terms of dollars. BUT, my thesis states that the premium on eagles will RISE in comparison to generics. Therefore, your % gains will actually be higher if you buy eagles. There you go faggot.

I get that you can buy more ounces if you get cheap generic. But the lesson here is that if you want to MAXIMIZE gains, buy the same amount of ounces in Eagles.

I own stocks to be diversified as well as to grab up some dividend income as we have no fucking idea how long this will take. But historically, some ratios are extremely important.
GSR is out of control, like 80+ ounces per gold.
Twice in history, the Dow:Gold ratio has hit 1:1. Something similar will likely happen, where there will be blood in the streets and a great opportunity to buy. But America will never be the same as there will not be capital inflows anywhere close to what we have now. Once the debt bubble bursts, people are going to be scrambling to put their names down on anything and everything they own.
I heard a nice analogy that I think is thought provoking. So many people think they are doing the right thing, and own the right assets etc. But this is like being at a poker table where everyone lays down their hands and we all have 5x aces. The pot is only so big and even if we all own a bunch of shit, we're going to find out that it just doesn't command as much purchasing power as we originally thought. True price discovery is going to return once the leverage is ripped away and written off. The more exposed you and you assets are to debt/leverage the worse off you will be.

I don’t know what point you are making. Premium is based largely on supply and demand. Demand on eagles will rise when the next rush sets in. US mint has already admitted to production issues. We’re going to see Eagles sold out and hard to obtain. Because people will want them, premiums will sky rocket.

It's a very well run grocery chain that owns many other chains. I don't think people will be lining up in drive thru windows to spend their hard earned money on overpriced food anymore. Being thrifty will be the new sexy. $50 to feed your family for one night is absurd, and I think being positioned for that transition will be a wise investment. It won't do better than metals, but I think it is a safe hold

My point is that coins rarely re-sell for the price you bought it for at retail, unless it becomes collectible. There was once an Olympic game that was cancelled and they produced a few coins, those coins became worth a shitload since the game never happened. If it did, they would be worthless in comparison.
>going to see Eagles sold out and hard to obtain
I've seen hundreds of coins with eagles, it's not very original.
People will want them, but if you want to sell them, I wouldn't expect too much.

Here is the analysis put together. If premiums stay constant, it doesn’t really matter in terms of % gains if you buy generic or eagles. BUT, the premiums on eagles will continue to rise in comparison to generics. Why? Because eagles are a high demand coin and the US mint will absolutely not be able to keep up with demand. In the next run up in silver, eagle premiums may rise to 100%+++ and will soon sell out. They’ll will only be available on the private market with even higher premiums. The eagle is also a very liquid coin and more trusted and recognizable compared to generic. Eagles are a great buy even with the high premiums. If the premiums fall in the future, then I’ll lose a little money compared to generics, but that is a good risk I am willing to take. Use this info for your own stacking strategy.

I'm honestly terrified of shorting, because one of the precursors to propping up the system is to ensure the stock market stays afloat. It may crash in real terms but actually still go higher.
Many leveraged games actually have bonds being used as collateral to take on many layers of debt which ultimately gets dumped in the stock market. If the market crashes, the unwinding of leverage could be catastrophic if people get liquidated.
I have no idea how all of these infinite little moving parts and pieces actually react, but I am certain that in real terms we end up poorer except for those who own QUALITY assets. I don't think it is necessarily so simple as "stock market go down - bad". I just stay away from shorting.

Eagles retain their premiums and actually grow them over time. You can’t refute this. Generics are generics and sell for spot or a little over with few exceptions. Even highly desired rounds like Englehard prospectors don’t have such a great premium. Eagles are great because they are very liquid and retain their premiums. Always buy eagles and other coins over generic rounds.

As for your insane comment on animals, they don’t matter. What matters is that a coins is recognizable and trusted and liquid. That is the ASE. You are showing yourself to be a fool. 1 oz of gold is worth 1 oz of gold, period. All that other stuff is speculation. But at 1 oz size, the price difference of bars vs. coins is insignificant. It's only with larger sizes like 50 grams and above where the bars have a significant advantage.
But there can also be tax reasons to buy coins. In the UK, you buy gold sovs, simple as. In the EU, you buy silver coins, not bars that have VAT on the full amount. But you can buy those Tokelau or similar 1-kilo coinbars for pretty cheap, so that's kind of a loophole. Those are still taxed, with VAT on the premium portion, so it's not quite as good a deal as burgers who can buy 10 oz or bigger silver bars tax-free.
