im on a oneplus 7 pro and at this point the only thing im considering is a refurb galaxy s20 for $300~ op because both sides on my oneplus are cracked to shit

maybe even a s10e refurb for $100 because im realizing 5g is a big meme and i'd get more out of the smaller formfactor.

the performance of my oneplus isn't the problem, its the cracked screen + phone being too big. like this thing still gets great phone signal anywhere in the country, and the photos/videos are good enough quality they can be annoying to send a 3-4mb raw to someone. \

phones kind of plateued out in performance after 2018-19 imo and now from what i can tell a $100 oneplus 7/galaxy s10e or $200 motorola one (if buying new) is enough for 90% of people after that you're chasing decreasing marginal gains

There is literally no reason to waste money on anything close to that. My 170 dollar Motorola can do literally any major task the 1300 dollar I phone can without issue other than take good pics. It even has water protection. I phones are the pinnacle of wasteful capitalism.

I purchased four samsung A20S phones for 550 dollars over a year ago. two have been smashed to shit, third is on its last legs. almost time to take number 4 out of the box and buy another set of phones.

It's almost non-existent now. Which was the plan since the beginning, with the iPhone originally supposed to be a sheet of glass with no notches or bezels getting in the way of anything. The pin hole for the camera would have been ideal but it won't be perfected until they use their patent to embed the camera behind the screen so you can't even see it anymore. After that happens iPhone design will peak.
