Yen (and other foreign currency) is hitting record lows against the dollar.
Would it be a good idea to exchange for some now?
What is the best way to accomplish this?

probably, i've been putting more and more of my money into thai baht, but im also an expat living in thailand so i benefit directly from it moreso then just forex.

my rent in thailand only keep going down, feels good pricing out the locals while americans back home are getting fucked.

Fuck no. You guys think the USD is doing bad? Literally every other currency and countries economy is doing worse.

that's literally the point, you buy up other currencies for cheap while the USD is stronger

How old are you and which part of TL do you live in? I would be sipping Mai Tais long term in Jomtien Beach by now but it seems like Thai Visas are still a bitch.

for now anon, it's only a matter of time before the USD loses its place as the world reserve currency, most likely to bitcoin.

im 29 in bangkok, i like it a lot more then pattaya personally, but im also not interested in the sexpat culture. what do you mean? thailand has some pretty straight forward visas, the only hard part is finding one that will give you a work permit. but here's the secret, everyone just works remotely here illegally without a work permit anyway. anything is possible here with enough money, worst case scenario you get caught and pay off the police.

if you have the money, you can just buy an elite visa that lets you stay in the country anywhere from 5-20 years.

For what purpose would you be buying these currencies? Cash for tourism, a simple short to medium term forex trade? Is it a leveraged trade? Etc. The jpy is fucked until the boj cries uncle and nukes the Japanese capital markets. Thinhs are getting interesting. BTW same goes for Europe/eur/ecb/Brent crude and nat gas

Tourism is definitely an applicable use case.
Which is why I was considering going to a foreign currency exchange and actually getting cash in hand.
