Basically the loophole here is to convert tokens with massive gains and keeping it clean tax wise, you need at least two entities.

Entity A loans original tokens to Entity B, non-collateralized, 100 year 0% interest loan. Loan must be repaid in original token, not equiv value.

Entity B gets tokens. Loan is non-taxable income, and they now have the baseline which they can do a conversion. Entity B now has zero original tokens, cannot repay the loan, and defaults. Entity A "eats shit" and writes the defaulted loan off on their taxes.

Entity B then writes a loan for the new tokens to Entity A, non collateralized, 100 year, 0 interest, yadda yadda. A takes in non-taxable income as loan, does conversion, worries about any taxable events then, and then defaults on loan to B. B then "eats shit" and writes off the loan to A on taxes.

In all, you have Entity A which gets a tax writeoff (which will likely counter any taxes accrued from conversion), the currency converted to whatever you really want, Entity B which gets a tax writeoff (again, counters any taxes accrued), and the money is now clean, on the record, free and clear. Keep completely solid records, have shit notarized, signed by legal faggots, whatever. Tax man comes, you have A and B show pieces of paper that says this was all above board, and they can go fuck off. Even better: if each entity is an LLC and properly isolated from you, taxman comes and decides to flex nuts, each company then dissolves.

Quite literally rinse and repeat as you'd like.
