You're still liable for paying taxes on the difference between what you put into the first coin versus what you cashed out at which gets added to your income. So, for example, if you bought 5m LUNC for 500$ and cashed it all out at 1$ per coin for 5,000,000$ by selling your LUNC for a stable like USDT, which you then sold for USD and withdrew, you would owe taxes on 4,999,500$ of which you're most likely paying 40% of that (exact percentage will vary, I'm doing easy math for retards to follow) which means of your 4.9995 million dollars in income you will be keeping 2,999,700$ after paying 1,999,800$ in taxes. Or in other words you would've turned 500$ into (basically) 3,000,000$ and Uncle Sam takes the other 2,000,000$.

The only time that would be different is if you sold that LUNC for 4,999,500$ and bought BTC with it which then went even further from that amount, in which case you still owe the 1,999,800$ for the gains on the LUNC plus whatever percentage is applicable of your gains on the BTC. So you form an LLC, you do NOT cash out your crypto, instead you loan every single cent of your crypto to your LLC. Now those gains are free and clear. The LLC will convert things, but won't be subject to the same taxes (as the initial loan is non-taxable income, so the gains or losses come from that point), LLC effectively cleans the money, and then officially defaults on the loan, as they no longer have the currency you lent them. You then get to write off that loan on your taxes. Finally, if you want to own the money and not an LLC (no fucking idea why but whatever) you then have the LLC loan the NEW currency tokens to you, you convert to the tokens which aren't those currency tokens (make sure the legal details of the loan explicitly state the loan is in the form of whatever asset is loaned, not equivalent value or whatever the fuck, and that it is a non-collateralized loan), you don't get taxed on the loan money, only the cash out.

Much cheaper, perfectly clean, and easy to do. Congrats.

Basically the loophole here is to convert tokens with massive gains and keeping it clean tax wise, you need at least two entities.

Entity A loans original tokens to Entity B, non-collateralized, 100 year 0% interest loan. Loan must be repaid in original token, not equiv value.

Entity B gets tokens. Loan is non-taxable income, and they now have the baseline which they can do a conversion. Entity B now has zero original tokens, cannot repay the loan, and defaults. Entity A "eats shit" and writes the defaulted loan off on their taxes.

Entity B then writes a loan for the new tokens to Entity A, non collateralized, 100 year, 0 interest, yadda yadda. A takes in non-taxable income as loan, does conversion, worries about any taxable events then, and then defaults on loan to B. B then "eats shit" and writes off the loan to A on taxes.

In all, you have Entity A which gets a tax writeoff (which will likely counter any taxes accrued from conversion), the currency converted to whatever you really want, Entity B which gets a tax writeoff (again, counters any taxes accrued), and the money is now clean, on the record, free and clear. Keep completely solid records, have shit notarized, signed by legal faggots, whatever. Tax man comes, you have A and B show pieces of paper that says this was all above board, and they can go fuck off. Even better: if each entity is an LLC and properly isolated from you, taxman comes and decides to flex nuts, each company then dissolves.

Quite literally rinse and repeat as you'd like.
