I don't doubt that this is what all companies will eventually do. It's not common knowledge and NFTs are a relatively new technology. When this works, every company will be forced to do it too. The problem hedgies have with Gamestop is their playbook isn't unique to just Gamestop, they do this to every other company other than the ones they are propping up. They have both a collective pool of cash from naked shorting and a pool of unfilled liabilities that they need to continually suppress price on.
