A couple people asked about SIGA in different breads today, and some retard said it was touching the bottom. I've said it before, but I wouldn't even think about touching it until the end of the month. If the pediatric cases are significant after a month of school I could see pressure building to the point the FDA comes to its senses. As it stands cases are flat and it remains a disease for disgusting faggots, especially as far as normies are concerned. In the meantime the ticker will continue to bleed and I wouldn't be surprised to see 8 or 9 in the next two weeks. Even then that might not be the bottom.

The energy companies make money when gas prices rise. But they still want to make money when they fall, too - so they short gas as a form of insurance. If prices rise, ok, they get paid as normal, and they just need to wait for prices to fall to close their shorts, no big deal, thats the cost of having insurance. If prices fall, they can close the shorts and make up the lost profits they missed by having their rates go down. They win both ways. The problem here is, they overleveraged a fuckload of short positions, prices have gone to the moon, and they are not coming back down. They are racking up interest daily on these positions and have no way of closing them without btfo unless the price of energy comes back down, which it wont, because putin has europe by the nuts on that front. The banks that facilitated these shorts wants their fucking money, and they are at the point of margin calling (aka game over) the energy companies to the tune of 1.5 trillion. Obviously the energy companies dont have that, so the only options are defaulting, which will crash the global economy, or having the EU bail them out and spike inflation by print the money to give to the banks.

This is oversimplified but yeah its a massive clusterfuck. Its like when someone discovers options and blows up their account and loses their life savings in the span of a week, except here the consequences is civil unrest.

You should buy the dip on oil and coal. This shit is going to explode higher because all of these green bullshit that is shutting down production.

Also once we enter into WW3 these commodities are destined to increase in price. Assets like facebook and apple will crash along with housing but consumer goods will continue to explode in price. We may even have a shortage of EVERYTHING if CHINA decides to stop importing. Also phones computers etc will get so expensive due to the shortage of advanced chips produced by Taiwan because they are getting nuked by CHINA.

Options are extremely commonly used for insurance purposes. You are basically hedging against your own interests so that if the market moves against your position, your losses are washed away by the profits made on the short positions. Obviously i dont know the fine details, and i dont even know if its public knowledge, but it would appear that as energy prices kept rising, the companies kept opening more shorts because they were expecting prices to fall and the whole ukraine bullshit to be over quickly. Essentially to cover the pending losses from their losing bets, they made more bets, which lost, and so they made more bets, which are continuing to lose. All with money they dont actually possess. If they just took the L at the onset, they would be caking right now. Instead they kept betting and losing like desperate faggots and total collapse may be around the corner for the EU and its countries as they find that they cant afford to heat their own houses this winter. Likely to avoid civil war or being overthrown, the EU technocrats will push for outright war with the Russians, blaming them for everything. Except that too is a folly, because the entire reason Russia invaded Ukraine was to secure critical geographical chokepoints on their western front, which they are well on their way to doing. Same exact reason they invaded Georgia in 2008 - to secure critical chokepoints in the south. Look at the two regions that broke away from Georgia, and note that “coincidently” both those regions are the only two passes through the mountains there. Russia has agreements to keep thousands of troops stationed there for 49 years.

Its a big game of global 4D chess and right now Europe is getting BTFO hard. Russia doesnt give a fuck about optics because they know if they dont secure these locations, they are doomed in a peer adversary war. Its do or die for them.

There are so many reasons that it's unironically stupid anons even compare Ukraine and Taiwan. Russia literally set itself up for this. Russia has very little debt compared to China and their biggest export is oil and gas. On top of that Russia has a shit ton of cold war shit that was going to expire anyway so they are perfectly able to stretch this out as long as they want. China with it's heavy export manufacturing that they have propped up with toxic debt since they never made the move to a service economy which is needed to becoming a more developed country because you need a consumer base you can rely on, not the consumer base of foreign countries that could blacklist you. On top of that China relies on like 30% food imports. Honestly Russia is smarter and less cucked than China in regard to all these points.

Yep, that's why I was excited to see Russia invade Ukraine. It was obvious from the start this would develop in to a proxy war between the globalist west and the nationalist east. NATO and globalists in general were behaving as though they could put all their plans in place without resistance. That hubris is the reason for the EU energy crisis. Globalists want green energy so bad because that significantly decreases the power OPEC can exert. Never had anything to do with the environment. If it was about the environment you'd still be hearing the word 'pollution' a lot. That word has mysteriously disappeared from the talking points. Nuclear is also not preferred because by globalists as it's just trading one natural resource for another with certain countries who have it getting a lot of power.

Yeah but everyone needs steel and i was thinking that since steel is technically a second order commodity which requires an input to produce that most of the demand destruction losses would be absorbed by the iron ore contracts which feed the steel producers. Is this illogical? Smelting furnaces literally cant be turned off you know, mines can sit idle until theyre needed again but furnaces need to be kept on or the assets cool down into an unusable brick. And if too many do shut down that then smelting capacity stays low until more furnaces get rebuilt from scratch.

idk i feel like there is something to be done here soon but maybe im thinking about it wrong.

"Everyone needs steel" - China (aka Housing Bubble: The Country) is responsible for, what, half of global steel demand?

Then in Europe how much steel does BMW use? How about when their factories are shut down?

>most of the demand destruction losses would be absorbed by the iron ore contracts which feed the steel producers. Is this illogical?
Stopping the flow of dollars into steel fucks over both steel *and* iron ore. Sure, you'll smelt and mine less but, as you say, there's minimum production that producers will continue dumping on the market to keep their lights on and furnaces from breaking.

The situation's a lot like oil wells not being shutoff in early 2020. And I think we all remember what that did to prices...

I would stay away from any tech sector as the chip shortage will cause these stocks to tank and it will take a long time AFTER the WAR for it to start recovering. Buy companies people MUST need not want to have. Like fertilizer, coal, uranus, copper, base metals, natural gas.

They started hiking more aggressively because they realized high-inflation is a much greater threat to their power than a crash is.
anyone hoping for a pivot at this point is a deluded perma-mumu.
And it doesn't stop there. To keep the housing market from imploding they'd not only need to stop hiking, but lower the fed funds rate from 2.5 down to 1 point or less.
It would be a huge credibility hit, even to the media which is always trying to cover for them.

Jerome realized its impossible to get inflation down without popping the asset bubble. And doing it in a long term manner is just more painful than short term.
