Reminder that the west is running out of water and a congressman on the committee for water resources bought hundreds of shares of a company called Ecolab which is a water treatment company that has already lobbied millions of dollars in the past year. Water recycling is going to become a necessity to meet current demand at the rate that reservoirs are drying up. The fed slashed Arizona’s water usage but it won’t be enough. Look into cotton futures as well, agriculture sucks up massive amounts of the Colorado river and Arizona is a big producer. A different congressman on the board of agriculture bet big on cotton futures.

Good news from Chile, they voted against a new very leftist constitution that was proposed, I believe with 62% against. Stock market and currency rallied after. Not sure if the large copper mining tax hikes were part of the constitution change or if that's separate.

There's a certain sand company in Texas that I've been watching but I don't know dick about sand. Gonna have to set time aside to research it more but the teachers union pension fund is invested in it. That and other notable investors are what made my ears perk up initially.
This sand, iirc, is used as filter media for oil. Also, if memory serves me correctly, it's an inelastic resource, so without new discoveries or technological breakthroughs, it could be one of the few players in that field.
All these factors look promising in the short-term, however the logistics of moving sand applies pressures to make those new discoveries or gambles on newer technologies.
Hope you guys had a lovely holiday weekend.

A yearlong slide alongside basically every single stock on the market you mean? And congress’s trades are public, look up Lowenthal’s purchases of ECL. It’s impossible to know the fact amount purchased, just the range in money spent. As for cotton futures, it’s probably down because there’s been some relief in the drought. But Texas was hit brutally. And again, Arizona just got it’s water usage slashed by 21%. They’re a massive producer, and water usage for the Colorado river is ALWAYS above what is replenishable due to them basing the original water rights allocations on a wet period along with a demand that has only increased every year. Agriculture is what uses all that water. And Arizona is one of the biggest users.

EQNR has very little growth going on and is priced higher relative to earnings compare to VET. Also VET is buying EQNR's portion of Corrib. >Because of the EU trade laws actual exporters of electricity pay more than their consumers. Romania peaked at 700eur per MW despite being a major exporter of electricity.
>
>https://stirileprotv.ro/stiri/financiar/explozie-a-preturilor-romania-plateste-cel-mai-mult-din-uniunea-europeana-pentru-energie-harta.html

And I start freaking out. No way the people in exporter countries are gonna put up with that. I'm thinking EU is gone by years end boys. Now first thing that comes to my mind is short euro. But if EU is going down, its gonna take down the whole banking system, no way to know whatever money youre shorting in is gonna retain value.
So its down to physical gold. None of that meme silver shit either, industrial demand is gonna be gone for a few years.
Any other trades i should be thinking about? I'm not saying gold is a bad trade but there has to be michael burry trades that smart money is probably already in on that's gonna 10x 100x easy when this blows up.

I believe energy companies in this context refers to grid infra companies that produce electricity. But on the other hand some Equinor bigwig is interviewed in the article so maybe Equinor is also in deep shit with its derivatives. I don't care enough to check but I recommend anybody invested in Equinor to check their derivatives contracts to avoid unnecessary dumpening.

Also
>essentially invincible since they can't be allowed to fail?
this isn't necessarily a good thing for a shareholder. When bailouts happen companies are forced to get credited by a government or dilute shares and sell those if I'm not wrong. And that's after they've dumped a lot. See Fortum over here in Finland. Absolutely crashed, this week when govt scrambled to the rescue has the dumpening paused and I still don't think it's a good investment. Awfully run company. Will probably keep dumpening even with govt guarantees

Bailing in would mean deleveraging and that is political suicide. And besides, what would become of the citizens if these grid companies were allowed to fall? There is no way they would allow it to happen. If nothing else, governments would take a bigger share of ownership and add more incompetents into the company boards.
>Soon the best option for anyone is to have their money in some unknown rinky dinky bank in South East Asia.

Couple of years ago I would have said the same about multiple governments letting tens of thousands of people freeze to death, which does put the politicians in a real risk of minecrafting, but we're only couple of months away from the great freeze happening.
After seeing how insanely retarded the governments have acted in the recent years, I'm not putting anything even if it's insanely retarded like bail ins out of the realm of possibility.

The way I see it, deflation is the cardinal sin for Western governments. Deflation disperses wealth, collapses employment and demand, and therefore also collapses a government's tax revenue. And we can't have that, governments have big plans and they need more money and power to bring those to fruition. Especially when they are in the process of taking sides in anticipation of war. But I agree with you that governments especially in Europe have been remarkably stupid in recent decades and years. The latest clown show with energy/trade policies have eroded my trust completely. I have never seen such bad leadership. And I am equally astounded by how my relatives and friends can't see what I'm seeing even when I explain.
>If I had already managed to accumulate enough wealth I'd be all for leaving right now, but unfortunately I got started so late I need to grow my wealth here for the time being.

You're right I don't have it bad. In fact, I have it quite good right now. I'm just looking around and seeing where things are going and I'm not liking it. This country is compromised. We're lead by a WEF puppet prime minister, soon joining NATO to solidify our fate as the ground zero for the coming war and no trace left of any economical or political sense. When Finland came out and joined the sanctions against Russia and took a clear side with the NATO application I knew that this isn't the same country it used to be. Our leaders are not interested even in the pretense of neutrality, not interested in the well-being of the populace, and most certainly not interested in peace. I'm left to decide whether I want to stay here and place my hopes in this country that maybe some modicum of sense returns and we make a U-turn away from economical and possibly military ruin (which may not even be avoidable anymore), or whether I take a step back and see whether I was scared over nothing or whether I made the best decision of my life.

I may seem convinced right now but it's actually a tough decision to make. Everything and everyone I know is here. But I also want to protect myself and my wealth as well as I possibly can. It's not an easy leap to take.

You see, electricity or heating need to be transported. And the farther away you are from the distributors the more it costs. I would also have to get a new electricity contract when moving in and energy providers have racked up prices and taken away cheaper contracts out of their selections. Not to mention, the cost of fuel would devastate my finances. Commuting, if I found work, would become awfully expensive. The only real option to save money I can think of would be to get myself a roommate or a girl, move into some relatively cheap place near a population center and share the living expenses.

I think this country is going to end up economically and ethnically indistinguishable from Argentina.
The biggest problems are lack of quality leadership anywhere no matter the political team, and secondly this country wants to spend big government money on welfare/healthcare/pensions when it no longer has the industrial and productive capability to do so. We're running entirely on debt and once that goes it's over. Neolibs have privatised everything rather than investing in productivity, thinking money is a substitute... look at this gas shortage crisis and how they seem to think that printing more money will address that we simply do not have enough gas, you can't put £££ in a boiler.

>So the Commission will propose a set of immediate measures that will protect vulnerable consumers and businesses. Those measures include savings on electricity, a mandatory target for reducing electricity use at peak hours, and a cap on revenues of companies producing electricity with low costs and rechanneling these unexpected profits to support vulnerable households and companies, von der Leyen added.
>The EU will also propose a profit levy on oil and gas companies, too, "Because all energy sources must help address this crisis," she said.
>The measures to be proposed also include liquidity support for energy utility companies to cope with market volatility and large margin calls on the energy derivatives market.
>"And fifth, we will propose a cap on Russian gas. The objective here is very clear. We must cut Russia's revenues which Putin uses to finance this atrocious war against Ukraine," von der Leyen said.

Big PEA out for Moneta's 10Moz+ project in Canada, they only used 5Moz for the study though. Mostly OP at 0.81 g/t with a 4.6 strip, some UG at 3.4 g/t mixed in. They went with a long 24 year mine life at almost 200koz/y. It's a semi high cost project at $1073 AISC. Initial capital of C$517M for a 20ktpd project seems very optimistic.

Yep, there's a reason why the company is valued at $13/oz. I mean if it actually could produce at $1073 AISC it would be fine, but it's a PEA so it's probably going to be a few hundred higher. Will probably sell off in the coming days and weeks. Study isn't exactly great and there's often a lot of people in these developers waiting for the economic study thinking it's a positive catalyst they can sell on. Happened big time with Benchmark Metals, wasn't even a bad study they produced.

The feds are trying to secure Antimony not Lithium.
All nano doping uses Sb and the new grid scale LMB Antimony batteries already tripled the SB price.
The DoD is begging for Sb to make bullets and primers.
Antimony is the most explosive element on Earth and makes the best batteries being an actual semi conductor/metalloid.

High Purity Manganese Suphides will replace Cobalt soon in EV's and Antimony will replace graphite in Li systems soon.

The real mineral commodity to source is Zirconium/Chromite for reactors and fuel rods and domestic Titanium lodes not in sand deposits.
Those will be the fastest growing metals in the 2023 market.

>> No.51322284

Antimony will be an interesting as there arent many serious stibnite deposits in the US, it was a major byproduct of lead / zinc mining in much of the American west back in the turn of the century. I wonder how much of that waste is reworkable with modern equipment?

Manganese needs energy intensive smelting operations to purify from bulk ore, I dont believe the US has any mills / smelters currently geared to it, China was doing 90% of the manganese smelting if i recall until recently when energy prices skyrocketed and they had to limit plants.

i am not sure how they are government wise to mining, i am sure that whole Vale disaster changed a few leaders minds on mining. As far as I know their fairly friendly when it comes to international / corporate mining but there is extreme corruption.

On Manganese I ll have a look at both but I dont believe its a real future sector in NA because of how wide scale the deposits have to be to be feasible to extract. The ore coming from Africa to Chinese refiners is something like .3% or a bit higher, its a bulk tonnage commodity that you need mega tonnage to make it work. Manganese X I recall from months ago had some good drill intercepts at their property in New Brunswick.
As for American Manganese I dont know anything about them other than they hold the past producing Roche Deboule Mine near Hazelton BC, one of my childhood haunts. Its a worthless property though, i am not sure why they are holding on to it after all these years, its to contaminated to bother working on.

1 Concentrates can be below 1% pure
2 They reference AUeq so an ounce would be a whole ounce no matter the purity of the concentrate
3 You still managed to be right since smelting and refining is going to eat at least 20% of the profits depending on what types of metal they recover and in what ratios.

How is everyone feeling post-Jackson Hole and post-Lagarde+Ursula speeches?

I get the sense that CBs will push to slow down economy as much as possible by raising interest rates slowly but surely. Also Powell didn't say it explicitly, but from his speech I can tell he would like for employment numbers to slow down. I'm not very economics savy, so sorry if this sounds naive, but sounds like he would like to see a recession to slow down the economy. I got a similar sentiment from Lagarde today. If this is true, then shouldn't it make more sense to invest in gold and bonds? I'm heavy in grains and Uranium so I'm a bit worried about my downside risk.

I think Fed wants stocks to crash and employment to go up. Lots of excess liquidity thanks to unlimited QE + stimmies. Fed wants to drain that and Fed officials have expressed elation about stocks crashing. ECB is way behind the Fed with its rate hikes and there is some concern about certain countries in EU being insolvent. Italy and Greece may be at the brink of bankruptcy again and high inflation + rate hikes will likely make the problem worse. But what can the ECB really do at this point when energy prices are getting out of hand due to many bad decisions by bureaucrats. EU will probably begin rationing to curb demand but on the other hand they will also be bailing out energy companies which means an even weaker Euro.
>shouldn't it make more sense to invest in gold and bonds?

Sorry I don't understand why the fed would want stocks to crash, although I can see that being a casualty of their monetary policy. Wouldn't it make sense for them to want commodities to crash? The price of food and fuel is a major concern for all countries right now, so wouldn't they want the demand for these goods to fall? (Thus why I raised the question about employment, again it was not said explicitly but watching Powell's speech I think it was implied).

So many 1pbtid complaining about thread quality. Posting she hulk twerking in the OP makes no difference to the quality of these threads, and they are very slow so how about you start contributing yourself instead of just complaining. The last thing we need is less people posting and tourists start shitting on the ones keeping the threads alive, bitch please.

Because they're realizing they can't tame inflation without destroying the stock market. It's all connected.
He's a bit pissed at the white house because they keep signing these trillion dollar stimulus bills when he's trying to get inflation down to ""2%""
He's saying he doesn't want a repeat of the 1970s. As long as he follows through, we'll get a 2008 instead.
The only thing the Fed understands is killing inflation with higher unemployment. Or reducing unemployment by easing.

anything 75 bps or over on september 21 should be enough to put the housing market over the edge, dragging everything else down with it.

Anyone remember an anon bringing up how the silver squeeze movement is bullshit a couple weeks ago? Something about how all the unregistered silver out there will keep prices low for awhile after the comex runs low/declares force majeure/whatever.

It wouldnt surprise me if they choose to go back underground again instead of completing the entire pit due to ground stability issues or changes in grade compared to how it looked in core. Eskay will be a mine again and i cant wait to see it.

I guess what I'm saying is: I don't see how a crashing stock market is the aim of the Fed Reserve. I can see how a crashing stock market can be a consequence of the fed's monetary policy, but I don't see why they would seek that as a target. Maybe there's something obvious I'm not getting.

A lot of people forgot about the squeeze but I continued tabs on it and have posted about it here occasionally but almost no one cares. As I said earlier, reddit, smg, twitter, etc are all now talking about oil, gas, and uranium. This makes me think the early phase is over, and any bottom is behind us. Now I want to buy metals, as I think now is the "just in time early phase". A year ago people said oil etc is a stupid investment when you can buy tesla and bitcoin. Now that sentiment changed. People still call pms rocks, so ideally you want now rather than when people are posting whether they should sell their gold chains now or wait. Any opposing opinions are welcome, I like hearing other angles.

The energy sector already get plenty of bailouts, tax credits and other subsidies. Why would that not continue?
