OK, I'm gonna reply to myself because I finally got it working!

Firefox wouldn't let me connect MetaMask to the https://classic-bridge.terra.money site, I had to download Chrome and set up MetaMask there. after that I picked "shuttle", Ethereum to Terra Classic, LUNC from the asset list, "max" for all the coins, and then pasted my Terra Station address. gas fees were very low, and the LUNC showed up in my Terra Station after about 3-4 minutes.

Dumb question, but am I safe to do the shuttle transfer using the classic bridge if my wallet still says Connecting.... in the bottom left corner?
