>VIENNA, Aug 29 (Reuters) - Iran has started enriching uranium with one of three cascades, or clusters, of advanced IR-6 centrifuges recently installed at its underground enrichment plant at Natanz, a report by the U.N. atomic watchdog to member states seen by Reuters said on Monday.

>Iran is using the cascade of up to 174 machines to enrich uranium to up to 5% purity, the confidential report said. Of the other two IR-6 cascades at the underground plant, one was undergoing passivation, a process that precedes enrichment, and the other had not yet been fed with nuclear material, it added.

>“One of the biggest mistakes they made in the 1970s at the Fed is they thought that inflation was on its way down. The economy was weakening. And then they backed off and then inflation flared back up again before they had finally quashed it,” Kashkari said. “We can't repeat that mistake.”
>Kashkari’s comments come after his transformation from one of the Fed’s preeminent doves to its biggest hawk. He said earlier this month that he would support lifting the central bank’s benchmark interest rate to 3.9% by the end of this year, and to 4.4% by the end of 2023.
>That makes him the most aggressive participant on the Fed’s rate-setting Federal Open Market Committee, according to the ‘dot plot’ of interest-rate projections published after the central bank’s June policy meeting. Officials will update their projections when they meet next month.
>“This is not a labor market-driven surge of inflation, right? This is not this traditional story where the labor market gets tight, wages climb, businesses have to pass those costs on, and then that leads to inflation,” he said. “This inflation has been driven by mostly by supply chains, by the war in Ukraine and by a lot of fiscal and monetary stimulus putting money into people's pockets and wages have been climbing.”

that's a broad statement that I mean to interpret "it works until it doesn't".

SHOP will never delist despite being down 85%, yet I know many people who bought it on the way up because it was up so much. Same with BB in 08. Same with NFLX. Now that they're down, people shit on them for being down, but that doesn't make sense to me.

I get that "companies that perform well tend to go up" and "companies that perform poorly tend to go down", but I know lots of people who will turn away from an opportunity on the basis that the 5 or 1 year return is bad, which annoys me to no end.

>that's a broad statement that I mean to interpret "it works until it doesn't".
I suggest lurking more until you can pick up on meanings more accurately than that.
The "facts" of a company that's down 85%, most of the time, are that it's earnings are decreasing over years. So the facts changing would be a surprise profit, perhaps caused by a new product line or a change in consumer practices.
SHOP is not a typical example. You should know that SHOP suffered a collapse in its inflated multiple, the other component of value alongside earnings. That had very little to do with its earnings tracked over years.
>I get that "companies that perform well tend to go up" and "companies that perform poorly tend to go down"
If you trusted yourself and your knowledge that NFLX has always performed poorly, you could have scaled into a short position every time it hit a certain price point or even a certain multiple.

NFLX CEO recently came out and indicated that they are going to pivot away from the shovelware woke content that they've been doing for the past several years. He acknowledged that it's not working and that they're bleeding subscribers because of low-quality content. Hopefully we'll see that materialize into some decent productions. For now I think it's worth holding. I got in after the recent crash.

Could be interesting, imagine how deep the rot goes at the company though. They should have spent 10 years creating the centralized content production house of the future. Paradigms don't shift themselves, they require manhours, but those hours were squandered. Billions of dollars of creative and technical talent down the drain. At this point shareholders should hand over the reigns to an unknown element like Mel Gibson and pray for the best.

>the thing is if you wait for "the facts to change", you're already too late because everyone is either running for the hills on bad news or buying as much as they can on good news.
yes but most of the time the facts do not change.
taking a contrarian position requires unique insight or taking advantage of a widespread blindness.
when they do change you generally have days, sometimes months to take a position while the market works through its denial and inertia.
>I just hate the "consensus" even though there's the "wisdom of crowds".
Why? Learn to love it. The simplest bet you can make is that corporate profits will keep rising, and the longer your outlook the more reliable that is. for short term, if the consensus switches to "shit's fucked" then position yourself to ride that wave.
>>NFLX has always performed poorly
>that was not the case until 2022 given it was up 300% from 5 years ago prior. the only way to have made money off that is to proactively fight the consensus and bet that the facts WOULD change.
No, you're conflating price and earnings again. NFLX wasn't performing well as a company, ever. Revenue growth couldn't keep up with speculators' expectations.
If you like thinking about these things, good, use your expertise to figure out that Apple, Google, and Microsoft deserve their valuations more than NFLX does.

>Luckily for us, the female fig produces an enzyme that digests this wasp completely. The crunchy bits are seeds, not wasp parts.
>Before you go thinking that those crunchy seeds in figs are in fact bits of dead wasp, let us set you straight. There are no dead wasps in figs. Just seeds - nothing more.
>Remember, not all figs have wasps in them. Some varieties - including many grown for the supermarkets - don’t need to be pollinated by fig wasps. Instead, they’re sprayed with certain hormones to make the fruit ripen or they’re simply a type of fig that doesn’t need pollination.
>Despite their rather unique growing process, figs are vegan. This is widely accepted by a number of vegan organisations who have concluded that because the wasps have already been absorbed by the fruit by the time they’re harvested, you’re not actually eating a living creature.
