its hell. worked at home depot in college. very mind numbing at times. especially when the break rooms are plastered with catch phrases and shit like pic related.

I put customers FIRST!!!!

"Find.
Inquire.
Respect.
Solve.
Thank."

Acronyms on how to do our job because they think we are retarded. Morning meetings where we do our stretches. Power hours. Paging for loading assistance. Manager approval for markdowns. Take returns to receiving. Coworkers constantly in the breakroom and "accidentally" leaving their FIRST phones on silent so when you call for the 6th time for a customer who needs help in flooring they just say they didnt get a call.

Just thinking about it makes me depressed.

it's not bad if you're a college student and you know that it's just a temporary thing. i worked in grocery stores all through college and my masters program. i stocked shelves in grocery/produce/frozen/dairy and i helped a little with stocking and cutting meats in meat/seafood. pay sucked but i was a hard worker and so bosses liked me and treated me decently. i had to do carts and cashiering for a few months when i first started, which sucked, but aside from that i didn't mind working in retail.

I remember that as a freight worker there, also you had to clock in and clock out with a code that is very easy to put in wrong and if you forget to do it you have to file a paper slip to make sure those hours get logged by your manager. Also having to ask for bathroom breaks when unloading a truck like you’re in elementary school again. Very happy I work from home now, I was busting my ass for 1/5th the money I make now.

same, I worked at the service desk. I could just access the kronos time clock from an app on the desktops there and log in with my username and password. that 9 or 12 digit code youre talking about was a pain in the ass.
