But no. Don't move here. Stay in your containment zone. I will continue to live here and take vacations to wherever I want, which will NOT be orlando by the way. The problem isn't the market, it is dumb policies.
The US city planning strategy is taken straight out of age of empires or some shit. It is the worst ever made and nobody is trying to fix it.
The price of the homes aren't the issue, it doesn't matter if they cost 300k or 2M.
The problem lies entirely with zoning laws. Let's say someone bought that property in the video and built homes for every single one of those parked outside.
Now they don't have to fight each other and they can just buy an apartment each.
This means that the price isn't just whatever the richest person can afford and we can go back to "is this even a good neighborhood?"
But you can't, because some dumbass decided this lot was meant to be a single home. So no converting it into an apartment complex, no converting it into a store so people want to live nearby it, no improvements whatsoever. You can only have this single home, maybe expand it so it becomes bigger and more expensive.
Zoning laws are the number 1 reason the environment is suffering, it is why you can't afford a home or why even though you make good money, can't save more money. It doesn't matter which side of the political spectrum you are on, you should be in favor of less regulation on this issue.
I don't know if you just need to start over in a new map, but this is fucking insane.

And if you're referring to suburbs, zoning and high prices is what keeps criminals out of your neighborhood. It's unfortunate that such criminals are allowed to exist in our country to begin with, but as long as they do, no zoning means constant white flight and suburban decay.

there is always a shortage of houses in areas in safe areas with jobs and good schools. you get a house in those areas and housing only goes up because money supply inflates like crazy. high incomes go up higher. even overall, housing has only gone up because money supply only goes up

House prices went up for 20 fucking years during 1970 to 1990 and it was only a slight dip. 20 fucking years during a high inflation period while interest rate sky rocketed to 18%. If you ignore the slight dip in 1990-1991 it actually pretty much kept going up until 2006/07 and even that 20% dip recovered in a few years and 2006/07 prices looked dirt cheap in a few years. In the past 90 years we have had 20% crash once.
