Why does it take more unemployment to stop the tightening? Wouldn't more workers being employed be cause to stop it and not the opposite? Less workers but still an increasing population means the economy becomes less stimulated which means demand for goods goes up still but less and less people will be able to buy things which means the economy tanks.

You would need to somehow lower the population like some kind of mass scale dying off like some kind of world war or pandemic in order to actually get demand down.

Since there are apparently only bearish retards left in /smg/ let me break it down for you: Inflation is a huge nothingburger because in the long run the Fed and US government need "high" inflation in order to reduce the actual burden of the national debt, which increases as they literally generate money out of thin air in order to finance an ever-increasing demand for debt as there are more and more people alive. In 50-100 years the average house will cost $1,000,000 but no one will care because the average income will be $300,000/year.

Interest rates will continue to trend towards 0% (and negative real-rates), inflation will continue to happen just like it has for centuries, and unless something truly catastrophic happens (like a meteor hitting the Earth) the people in charge are going to continue propping everything up

inflation is too high regardless of it being benefitial for debt. we're also at a point where the world decides whether it will start deglobalizing and that will put even more pressure on the debt system. the energy side of inflation is one of the main current indicators of this starting to happen.

>"Inflation is too high" in what time frame, though?
depends on where we go at these crossroads. if no deglobalization occurs, then inflation will come down within max 5-10 years as the fed intervenes and energy prices come down again.
but if too much global friction occurs, then you can absolutely expect elevated inflation for decades, if not total financial system collapse. the growth of china in the last 20 years *drove* most deflation in the world. if this growth stops benefiting us, either because the growth slows down or because either the west or china realign, then this will be very inflationary for a long period of time, energy or not. production costs will go up significantly as production globally becomes more local again. and i'm also not confident that our debt driven financial systems can even deal with global growth receding for an extended period of time (i'm reminded of powell's comment at the end of the IWF meeting where he was effectively daydreaming about a global economy with *more* friction and *less* leverage/instability).

national interests are king. when you realize that every country tries to avoid being swallowed, a lot of shit starts making sense. globalized market capitalism just happens to be a wonderful tool to make power shift in a non-violent manner, and it's not clear whether it'll be able to continue serving its purpose in the next decades at the current pace over other tools to shift power.

Neither.
Why would you invest in a market there will be planned disruptions of?
As the likelihood of global armed conflict increases the markets are favoring commodities that war increases demand for, cotton gained 4.2% today, and has been gaining in value all year. The pandemic was a trial run for the war based economy, which was why cotton, paper, alcohol has inflated at faster rates than other hard commodities including energy. I usually don't watch tv but I did today, and they were saying, in less words, the only bullish thing there is in the markets' outlook going into September is the possibility of global conflict.

Get a realtor now, ask about loan wrap arounds. It 's something my Dad did a lot of in the early 80's. It allows you to assume the sellers loan at the rate they have it at. The risk is you may be buying a very overpriced house depending on when the seller bought it. Anyway get a realtor with experience in loan wrap arounds and you can dodge the interest rates a bit.

You're really missing the big geopolitical picture. No one resisted when Russia just nibbled and stole crimea, and even set up meme republics in the east. It was when they went full retard and tried to take kiev, kharkiv, kherson, (odessa) too that shit hit the fan. apparently, there was a lot of resistance or we wouldn't be 180 days into the 3 day operation.

You're also misunderstanding the history of the Republic of China (aka Taiwan). Taiwan originally ruled over mainland china, and was only subjugated 400 years ago. Even under occupation it was with constant rebellions and revolutions against the mainland. It switched hands between the japanese and china and finally they had independence. The overall low-quality build of china's military, 100 miles of pacific ocean, and the fact 95% of them do not want Chinese rule is a great deal of resistance.
