Nothing makes sense anymore, the entire world just feels fake and incredibly tense. I wish I could go back in time and ask the Romans and Byzantines if they had a similar feel before their empires' collapse.

People say "don't watch the news" but we're all just passengers on a derailing train, and it's hard not to look on the window. What are we headed towards? Will things get better afterwards? When will things make sense again? When will people be kind again?

I've been thinking a lot about this and the only reasonable conclusion is we are completely doomed. We've built up a massively complex society with billions of people all dependent on highly leveraged systems of agriculture and utilities. But no one wants to fucking do anything productive anymore because the ((people)) on top have used every single opportunity possible to make sure society funnels wealth upwards towards mostly superfluous jobs like law, and software, and investing. There is no possible way this is sustainable and it just takes one look at "the best" cities in the world like LA to see the glaring tumor of homelessness and social unrest growing. Covid and WFH seemed to completely exacerbate the problem with people flooding out of these high cost of living cities, abusing real estate arbitrage and destroying the reasonably priced midwest areas just to retire early.

I honestly think some massive civil unrest is soon to begin followed by a slow churn into masse stupidity. IQ levels have already started dropping since the 90s, we basically coasted off nutrition for an entire century while the dumb reproduced liked rabbits. I think Israel and the Jews will jump ship and China will end up the dominant power as Americans slowly sink into an agricultural proxy province as the education smart people flee and the impoverished migrants from down south continue flooding in the by the millions

Humanity went on a massive parabolic bull run since the beginning of the 19th century, echoes of discoveries made since the middle of the 1600s that allowed us to be where we are today when we did. Compare that to the more slow and methodical collapse that civilizations that lived and died before the early modern era and we find ourselves in an extraordinary situation. The wheel will always keep turning, there's no denying that, but our modern "conveniences" allow for the suppression of rebellious strife for generations past when the simmering would have lead to something more. Its the ultimate form of bread and circuses when you can completely numb the mental faculties of your slaves when they are too busy from the millions of distractions in day to day life, nefarious or not. The sad truth is, there will be no epic bronze age style collapse where starving zombies roam the streets in a mad max type crash, the abuse and oppression will keep festering until the will of the people is so broken our world will represent something more like the movie Elysium.

I think you are onto something.
Negative interest rates are literally impossible, like just absolutely no sense to them, and I think the answer to why yields aren't exploding higher and people aren't just losing their minds is honestly the desire to keep this going.
FDR essentially paused capitalism to redistribute wealth at the turn of the century, and the rich actually put up with it, and given the relative strength of the west, yes it would take a hit doing something like that again, but it might put up with it.
Technological improvement in farming and resource extraction also mean you don't have to convince as large a swath of the population to produce vast amounts for the rest of us, and then some.
The US has many economies layered on top of one another. This fucking tech bullshit is going to collapse. We will still want the creature comforts and the military will still want the good stuff, but this retarded thing where we pretend this contributes to the overall economy to warrant the drag is almost over.
There will be oil barons, construction tycoons, and people will still rent-seek, but there actually has to be PRODUCTION of something useful.
Rome had its best years post Republic.

It will be a gradual decline.
Booms and busts will be larger in the financial sense.
Corporations such as Disney will create their own bubble societies.
Segregation will be more acceptable and pronounced.
We will return to tribes, kings, serfs and warlords.
Universities will fall out of favor.
Corporations will hire only from within their closed societies.
Homesteading and permaculture will be normal.
Cults will become more socially acceptable.
The federal government and court systems will see there is money and control to be had in governing how closed societies interact with one another as opposed to trying to control them themselves.

Society NEEDS:
Houses
Food
Water
Basic infrastructure to support these
Defense

That's fuckign work. That's real, actual work.
Farmers need houses, construction workers need food, everybody needs water and the maintenance of all the infrastructure that makes this cycle possible. Defense protects all of the above, and it's expensive.
Nobody signed up for using these guys' national credit to finance a bunch of fucking dipshits to overcomplicate what should be simple so we can create endless amounts of jobs that do nothing. Lawyers are paid 1200 bucks an hour to navigate a system THEY made complex.
Tech is even WORSE because at least the lawyers would give us infrastructure projects that actually do stuff and protect real companies from bullshit.
We used analog for years, and I think anybody arguing we should digitize nuclear reactors and aircraft carriers is trying to create jobs. Create more reasons people need to pay for highly specialized skills.

The elites already saw this coming decades in advance that is why they mass vaccinated the goyim with cell and gene therapy to kill off the stupid and gullible. Now with Energy and food shortages and the collapse of global derivatives markets alot of the third world that relied on the west for sustanance will also die off greatly lowing the population over the next several decades.

Life even for peasants was much better after the black death. with rapidly advancing technology and a much smaller population life for the survivors of the coming crisis will be very comfy.

Also what do you think the vaccination rate is in the continent of Africa and the middle east? Compare that to the vaccination rate of Europeans, Americans, an Asians. Yea the manipulation and synthetic trends are really the worst part. The destruction of every positive trait of man and woman. The days staring at screens or watching others stare at screens. The knowledge that what I am doing doesn’t really matter, that would most people I doesn’t really matter. Watching as the country I was born to crumbles in every facet. Seeing the effects of the social degeneration in my own life, the shame and the humiliation of falling prey from childhood to a system of lies and deceit. The knowledge that my spawn will struggle with the same evil. The dream of a brighter reality, but every morning I wake up and I am here again despondent and in despair buried deep under layers of self hatred, anger, and irony.

Was with you until the China bit. China's greatest enemy has always been themselves. In any case they're not like the US. The US has perfect access to two big oceans and none of its neighbors pose any threat to them whatsoever. China has access to only one of those oceans and their immediate hemisphere is absolutely crawling with other (relatively) powerful nations, many of which absolutely hate their guts.
Not that it's impossible for them to become the world power, anything's possible, but it would take some real smart leadership, and China is practically the antithesis of that all throughout their history.

You generally can't pinpoint the moment an empire collapses at the time. Some warn of a collapse generations before things start going bad, others deny a collapse has happened even after the barbarians have looted the palace and set fire to the vineyards. By the time most well-learned people of the empire know that a collapse has occurred, it has already been replaced by a successor empire (or descended into tiny warring kingdoms)
