I'd say BTC will not gain any movement in 2018 - it's high transection fees and time will get even worse the higher it gains in price, which would just drag it's price down. It's price would just zigzag at around 18k I'd say. Constant BTC price = alts such as eth and ltc mooning.

This is why I asked about segwit and lightning. It seems that the normies are catching on that bitcoin is expensive and slow, so I wondered if that would hurt it. However it seems the price just keeps going up and I'm not even sure why.

BTC will largely stay king, no coin is different enough to really pull anyone away from it. In 2019 I could see something potentially starting to move up in the ranks towards competition with BTC. Whatever that it also probably doesn't currently exist
