I would never believe going to college for a STEM degree is a bad idea. But alas I’m a computer science student so I’m biased.

It isn’t a scam per se, but the idea that everyone must go to college is extremely harmful. Most people end up in debt, with no job (or at least one which doesn’t need their degree) and universities print their own money.
You should only go to college if you are smart/it’s worth your while (in the us at least, in Europe, since college is almost free, you can just get a degree in something you find interesting)
Everything would be a scam if people shilled it as hard as university, just imagine:

Its worth it if youre doing something specific, in the same manner you'd do something specific like a trade, but a trade the requires university....thats ultra-specific...

The rest of it is a money-grab scam to feed into peoples egos of having a "degree" no matter how pointless and useless it is, although, university probably does help you in some ways, but is it worth going into $50k - 100k or more debt for one of the meme degrees just to learn the educational skills of writing/reading/researching at a more advanced level ? Not really probably not

maybe college is a scam. he's probably right. the problem is that employers don't agree. most companies instantly throw into the trash all resumes that don't have the word "college" on them these days. even call centers. so many people have had to get degrees that employers are getting even more strict now and refuse to hire people with 2 year degrees and demand 4 year degrees.
