Move to Australia it's better than everywhere else.. Assuming you like beaches, cruisy lifestyle, the best weather on the planet etc.

I don't know how people can live in a fridge for half a year.. Like it boggles my mind that people can tolerate that shit. My sister lived in Finland for a year and I remember visiting in winter.. sun went up barely over the horizon and then back down into cold bitter winter.. for more than half the year.

In Austria you have to do mandatory civil service for a year and so I started my degree at 19. Took me 7 years to get a Bachelors and Masters because I was clinically depressed with social anxiety (2 years of covid only made it worse).
Boomer employers don't want people who took forever to get their degree so I will always make minimal money. 1 year experience so far as a junior programmer, probably suicide soon.

Cool. Bachelor degree here. Was passing y Austria earlier this year. Was offered a job in Vienna in a startup company for 49k euro annually. That's about 34.5k after taxes. What, you want to apply there?
Personally I would not bother with salaries, if you are just a student for the very first year of your work. Once I finished Uni my salary on the first job, for the first 5 months was about 300$ per month after taxes (it was an IT job but not even programming). Then I found another job, and it only got better from there on. And the best trick is having multiple jobs. A part-time remote position in at least one company while you do the main most-paying one. Not every company may agree to this, but once you have a lot of experience and you can go business-to-business (where you are one man company).
Don't treat a single job as you would treat a marriage. And maybe check glassdoor and other websites that give you average going rate for your occupation, and always try to find something that pays better, while trying to avoid anything that pays less than average going rate.

Another annoying thing I stumbled upon was having to make good photos for your resume. It was disheartening to discover that HR and whatever tech person who interviews you focus on very different things. HR may not even read your cv and decide to interview you just because you look good, while the tech person behind the HR will actually grill you on what you are supposed to know to do the job.

I don't think physics is a great degree to be honest. It's hard and it's respected but it's not employable in the same way CS, EE, or even business are. Whatever job you get you're going to need training more than if you had a degree in something else. I say this as someone with a math degree who has been turned down for positions and given this as the reason. Eventually I got one but I do regret not just doing CS.
>How do people even start their careers?
It's only a problem for your first job. If you just did a degree in, say, CS then you can do an internship or walk into a junior position at least as easily as any other graduate but if you did a degree in physics sure you're probably smart enough to do a tech job but why would they hire you over a CS graduate? Once you have experience that problem goes away.
Jobs in academia and research are fucking shit and good luck getting tenured before you're 35. Maybe if you're a physics phd there are S tier jobs at Lockheed Martin but I can't imagine there are that many and a phd is a very big commitment.

You guys are completely right. I can only feel complete and unbridled sneed at losers like you, for embarking into a fucking degree without the slightest idea and no wherewithal to finish it in the fucking STIPULATED time. It's obvious you are enabled to waste your lives away in such a manner, and you should have directed such a waste of resources into fueling a drug addiction, because at least that way you would get to properly EXPERIENCE something, and with any luck end up either kys and saving everyone the trouble, or manning the fuck up and getting your worth properly measured.

youa re an idiot, you can make more as a waiter than with your cs degree
I bet you studied wirtschaftsinformatik which is not CS
also why waste time to get a degree, write python scripts or do some javascript work and you make this almost in 2 month

I started with 1300 a month when I left school at 19. Changed jobs a few times and whalla. I haven't been welding for years tho, cause it sucks desu. Just have a little patience, build experience and move to the next job.
