Not sure what happens when free float locks, but when you try to DRS shares and ComputerShare is having trouble finding real shares to DRS for you is when they start to notify Gamestop and other government agencies as well as regulators of the stonk market that there is going to be a lot of trouble. We don't know how many shares that need to be DRS'd to get to this point but I imagine that if the free float is DRS'd than anyone short on the stock in theory should be subject to infinite losses. If all shares are technically owned by an entity and someone is short than the shorts would literally need retail or an institution to release real shares into the market to cover their positions. Would also prove that basically any shares in any brokers around the world are fake once basically all shares are DRS'd. We are on track to DRS the free float in March unless they keep tanking the pride which would only accelerate the process.
