Get a reputable broker like Fidelity/Vanguard/iBroker and then direct register your positions from them to whatever transfer agent manages the company whose shares you thought you bought. Once the transfer is completed make an account with that transfer agent (really just login details, the act of initiating the transfer has the transferring brokerage create the account as part of the process you just need to tie your identity to it and make login deets) and you're all set. I don't leave any shares in my broker account for anything that isn't a literal gamble I wouldn't cry over if it went to nothing, because you do not actually own anything with a brokerage other than a contract for difference.

You can do this with any stock. It's how insiders hold their shares to guarantee they're real shares, and from a legal standpoint having shares direct registered is selfsame as having paper shares in your hands. The transfer agent for BBBY is AST and I already have an account with them and have 90 of the 100 I purchased at just under 5$ direct registered, and will be adding more this week when I get paid. After I have bought more GME.
