Why are real estate agents still a thing?
Who the fuck needs those useless leeches in the age of the internet.

>hello you want this apartment? OK pay me €2000. Why? Because!

boomers
they can't use the internet and they enjoy the theatre and sense of self importance they get by having someone serve them

>> No.50892960

>paying money for an apartment finder when you can just google nearby apartments and visit them

for buying instead of renting it makes more sense because there's a lot of contract law and legal issues in general that go into buying a house. you could buy a house on your own without a realtor but unless you are 100% familiar with all the laws and regulations surrounding it, you're setting yourself up to get fucked

Also boomers get offended when their exorbitant dream offers aren’t initially accepted and get offended.

How much does it cost getting a lawyer to check the law stuff vs a real estate agent?

Most retailors don't know the laws either.

Because the 2% fee on the price of their house is something a boomer is willing to pay.

>They don't understand the internet, don't want to. Get the younger person to take photos and put them on property sites. Check said prices on property sites.
>They unironically believe having an 'agent' to represent them means they'll get a better price. But if the property isn't sold then the agent gets nothing, so the agent actually can have incentive to push for a lower price if it means they can finally get paid and not have to keep working and have to tolerate the insufferable boomer

Realtorfag here. The average person is stupid. 50% of the population is stupider than that. The good realtors prevent you from getting fucked by contract law. A lawyer charges about the same as a realtor to look over a transaction, but you get less utility. The bad realtors post on instagram all day and don even know how to write a proper contract.

This. I felt the same way until I actually bought a house. Contrary to what some people ignorantly believe, the purpose of a real estate agent is not to help you find a house or 'show you around'.

correct. unless you had parents who were multi-homeowners and landlords themselves (and even a very small percentage of these folks know what they're talking about) you won't be taught even the basic details. Realtors are the Stacy-est-assed Normies you'll ever meet. But they're basically the only people who can convince the average person that they aren't Born Rentoids who "Will Never Own A Home" the way Tumblr tells them.

Because good ones are worth their commission.

Mine was phenomenally helpful.
>Completely shut down the other side's agent when she tried to falsely claim that there were competing offers.
>Negotiated a seller concession for closing costs even though the seller was dense.
>Helped me find stuff that would meet FHA appraisal standards so I didn't waste time on things I couldn't qualify for.

A++, would work with again.

Because real estate agents provide 10% commission value but undercharge to 2.5% to 3% commission for the service. Do you all seriously think you could properly exchange a residence for money without us? Come on now. Most home buyers these days barely can put 5% down payment and the home takes up 50% of the take home income. These people cannot manage a transaction of this importance without an agent with such financial stupidity.
