ETH2 is already hugely inferior now, let alone by the time it comes out. Betting on ETH in 2022 is betting on BlackBerry in 2007 when Android and iPhone were just around the corner.

They lost, because of first mover disadvantage, and them having to redesign their initial flawed protocol from scratch, without fixing any of the fundamentally flawed mechanics already. Instead, they added only more complexity and centralizing forces on top.

"first mover disadvantage" applies to innovators in physical goods and tech, because a young, nimble startup can just copy them, improve the formula and release a better product than the first mover who has already put down roots and can't change/update themselves as easily.

It does NOT apply to networks, if you can capture a critical mass of users who bring their friends in and their friends and etc until the network becomes a social phenomenon, then that network will persist and keep growing even if upstarts create something technically better. eg there are dozens of better, more censorship-resistant, more decentralized twitter alternatives out there at this point, and nobody of consequence uses them. Why? Because they're not twitter is why. So look at ETH, it's the only smart contract chain with any amount of value actually flowing across it, real daily engagement from users, etc. It doesn't need to be the best, it just needs to keep being the de facto choice for decentralized gambling and finance and it will win by default.
