You can get a cash payout policy, or you can get a full replacement policy. The full replacement policy covers whatever you claim in the policy, so you need to make sure you go over it, and make sure it accurately describes your home. I actually submitted the plans for my house as part of the policy. In this case, it works like car insurance, you will get a quote on the repair, and they will pay for the replacement.
